Default My son going to Jester 1 SAFP Facility

I am very new to this (just registered). My son is going to the Jester 1 SAFP facility sometime the end of December. This is a "special needs" facility - my son has type 1 diabetes and wears an insulin pump. The county jail allows him to wear his insulin pump. Does anyone have any information about: (1) SAFP facilities, especially the Jester 1 facility, (2) insulin pumps in SAFP?, and (3) any other helpful information for me and my son?.

Thanks,
BB's Mom Too

Welcome to PTO and the Texas Forum!! You'll find lots of support, advice, and information here.

You can do a search for SAFP in the Texas Forum and you'll find lots of info on that program.

Glad that you found us!

BB's Mom
My brother is at Jester III. They are all right together. They are
medical units. My boyfriend was at the Johnson SAFP unit in Wood County about
5 years ago when they were 1 year. He is at Glossbrenner SAFP now
and they are usually 6 month. All of the Jester Units are pretty good.
My brother has been there 3 years. They have a new warden who is over all of the Jester Units and
is really good and is making good changes. SAFP is more strict
than a regular unit (my boyfriend also did 10 months at Bradshaw)
But the SAFP is for alcohol and drug offenders so they do try
to gear the unit to lots of counceling. I think your son will do
fine with his insulin. They are also really close to UTMB hospital
in Galveston if he has any problems. Jester Is a good unit
and a really christian warden. He is going to try to to get
an christian dorm started. I hope TDCJ leaves him alone
and make his positive changes. I wish you the very best with
your son.

My Husband was put in a MHMR unit and he is not mentally ill he is suppose to get treatment for substance abuse why do they have him in there. Is it because its the only bed available will he be moved to the correct unit?

Thanks God Bless

acard, jessnkat replied to your thread in the Other Texas Prisons forum (Need information about Jester I SAFP) earlier this week and she can probably help with some of your concerns. Please read her reply and if you have any questions I am sure that she will be glad to answer them.
