Do you mean that the prison has locked down visitation (shut down issue) or that a specific inmate or visitor has lost visiting privileges.

I would assume that visits may be suspended at federal facilities with the government shutdown as they would be on reduced staff

Not at ours. Visiting is one of the things they make a priority. The only time they've ever changed visiting was cutting it short due to weather concerns. They are also not furloughing the CO's as they're considered "essential" government employees so I don't think they're being cut back in general and I haven't heard of any facility's visiting being cut back or reduced as a result of the shutdown.

I just visited my husband last weekend. But we’re surprised they haven’t gone on lockdown yet.

Still no changes where my husband is, although he said one of the other CO's that helps where he works has said he has no savings and is now living on his credit cards. The guy is single and I think young. Pretty typical I think of most of the Federal employees unfortunately, and probably a lot of Americans truth be told.

As for visiting, rumor is that although nothing has changed with hours or cutting things back, they did have "assigned seats" this weekend to keep a better eye on people. He was going to find out tomorrow what the deal is with that. Maybe because COs are calling in sick. I wouldn't be surprised if they are and just working other jobs in the interim.
