Default Co-defendants? Who do I write to about him living with me upon parole?

So my fiancé and I are codefendants so I haven't been allowed to visit him the whole time he's been locked up (3 years), because in his file it says no contact with me, now he's about to parole out in April and I'm wondering if anyone knows of anything I can do to try to sway the parole board to let him live with me when he gets out?? Is there anyone I can write or talk to? It's so sad because I know I can help him more than anyone and my house would be a far better environment than a half-way house. I just don't know what to do

Oh wow, that's a tough one Katie.

Did the parole board specifically say no contact with you? If so, its very unlikely that his parole officer is going to budge on that.

His best bet is to just do real well on parole and stay squeaky clean for a couple years then ask for an early discharge. Once he's off-paper, he can live wherever he wants.

Are you still on parole or probation yourself?

Well it isn't the parole board that said no contact, see when we got arrested the judge in our hometown ordered no contact, so i think that that they are still seeing that no contact order and that's what the problem is. However, when they have denied my visiting applications in the past their reasoning has been "due to criminal history" but I was only 17 at the time all of this occurred, so it's all on my juvenile record...not that that matters too much since it's still viewable to the public. It's just frustrating because i feel like there has to be something I can do about this, i just don't know what.

Nope. Where he lives while on parole is absolutely at the discretion of the PO. You are clearly not a good influence, since you were willing to participate in a crime with him. The PO's job comes down to one thing only - setting things up so your guy has the best chance of NOT going back. You don't fit that criterion. Nickel Timer gave you the only advice that's worth following.

Ok I don't mean to get defensive but don't tell me I'm not a good influence, you don't even know me, and you have no idea what even happened. I asked for help not to be judged. So excuse my language but shut the hell up. I want nothing more than to see him do well and be the best that I know he can be. I have been here for him every step of the way, and i have been the one keeping him in line all along. I can offer him more positive support than anyone. We are in an unfortunate situation, and I sure didn't expect to be criticized by someone I thought would understand. So please, before you talk down to me at least know what you're talking about.

I'm telling you what the PO will see. Doesn't matter what I think. The PO cannot possibly see you as a good influence if you were willing to join in the crime. That could only be seen as supporting his worse instincts, not his better ones.
