Default My man enjoyed Origami from this website

I found a Canon website that has different paper crafts that can be downloaded and printed. I sent some of the Origami animals and he said that he really enjoyed doing them.

With a decent color printer, they turn out really nice.

Default Birthday Ideas

just wanted to get some ideas from everyone if they have any!!

my boyfriend's birthday is coming up in a few weeks and I just wanted to know what I could do for him that would be special since he's locked up! visits are out the question since he's STILL in transit and it will take next to forever to get the visits approved. I was thinkin about sending him extra money..but is that kinda stupid since I send him money anyways and he only buys what he needs?

any special ideas any of you guys did...I wanna hear them!!!!

I am going through the same thing. My boyfriend's birthday is on Halloween. I am from Arizona, so I don't know what your facilities rules and regulations are, but I sent money to purchase a television. In Arizona they can get walkman's from their "store". I also sent some personal pictures - nothing nasty, just flirtatious. You could also go to Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Borders, etc. and order books, puzzles (crossword, word search, suduko) or magazines. Good Luck!!

I got an idea from a friend, she had sent one of these to her boyfriend who is serving in Iraq. She googled "name keepsakes",and found a site that lets you pick the border and background on a picture that has your name and his,and lists characteristics of both your names. She chose his favorite animal as the border, and added his favorite colors to it.At the top it said FOREVER,right between their names. He loved it,so maybe thats an idea you could look in to.

I've been struggling with this, too. My boyfriend's birthday is next weekend. More than anything, I would love to visit and spend the day with him...but at 10hrs drive each way, I just don't know if I can swing it if I also want to go up Veterans Day weekend (Nov 10-12), which is THREE whole days. But knowing me (and my lack of self restraint)...I will.

Just in case, though...I stocked up on cards and am sending one each day this week. Also, I asked about a dozen of my friends who know the situation to send cards, too. More than anything, I just want him to know that he's thought of and cared about.

Just wanted to share with y'all something I just recently found & sent that he loved. I was really worried that it wouldn't make it through (even though it is "innocent"), but figured it was worth a try and it did go through.

I found these little cardboard puzzles at a craft store (like Michael's) that's just plain white, and you can decorate it with whatever you want. They had rectangle ones and heart shaped ones...can you guess which one I picked?? The package says to take it apart so the recipient has to put it together to see what's written on it, but I sent it still put together. The cutest thing was when I asked him if he had took it apart & worked the puzzle! The look on his face was priceless when he admitted that he did!

I take lots of pictures and use a cheap page layout program to make little "my week in pictures" newsletters, being able to see what I see and am doing gives him something more concrete to think about and it kinda makes me feel like he's with me too!

I am new to posting on this forum, but I have gone around reading several threads to get a better idea of what everyone talks about here. I have to say that there are some really great ladies here that are impressively helpful.

I have a handful of pen pals at the SHU and am fairly new to corresponding with inamtes under such circumstances. So far it has been great. I'd like to offer some ideas and assitance with mail matters.

I emboss my own envelopes using the Stamps.com software for printing postage at home. I also print my own stationery designs using the scrapbook factory software. I use the Picasa software to edit and print photos I take and send to my pals as well. Since stickers are not allowed, I improvise with art on the envelopes with different pens, colored pencils and such. They seem to like that a lot. You can also make your letters more visually appealing with fun scissor cut designs on the borders of your letters.

Although some of these methods are pricey, they are worth the convenience. If any of you need more info on any more ideas, please let me know. I'd be glad to be of assitantance.
