Default Women Decry Deplorable Conditions in State Prison

When Theresa Martinez was an inmate at the Central California Women's Facility, prison health officials diagnosed her as having HIV. Martinez said her mental health deteriorated as a result. Prison doctors also put her on a rigorous anti-HIV drug regimen for ten years. Eventually, officials with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation transferred her to a state prison facility in Southern California.

CDCr is a corrupt devil that thrives on ruining lives, families, and communities.

Disgusting but true. It goes back to the entire attitude of deliberate indifference, how else could one human being treat another this way. As a former nurse with in CDCR my suggestion is if your loved tells you something that sounds unbelievable believe them. Advocate and do all that you can to remedy the situation. Call Sacramento and the receivers office. We on the outside do have a voice and our persistence in demanding better care is the only thing that will make a difference. We must speak out in order to see change.

There are too many bad apples spoiling the bunch. To google arrest histories and mugshots and use it against inmates?!? That's not even normal. People like that need mental health treatment themselves...

Just another example of what is really going on. The womens have all but been ignored in this whole case and in reality its a disease throughout the system. My loved one is at CIW and there are horror stories there as well. A recent death that occurred as a result of neglect is exactly what the Judges were supposed to be preventing with this whole reduction to allow quicker access and better medical treatment. Its a joke...And Brown has the audacity to claim that the system has improved. He has no clue!!

why is the medical staff NOT being held accountable? They would be in a hospital while caring for patients? If these ladies are being seen for a medical condition by medical staff I believe 100% they should be held accountable. If they lack in their job abilities then they should not be licensed care providers. Inmates should be sent to hospitals for any and every medical condition no matter how big or small if the medical staff can not provide the correct medical care.
