Question Letter of Support to Community Corrections

If anyone could help me with a basic idea of what to include in my letter to the community corrections board on behalf of my son, it would be greatly appreciated.

What HWH did he put in for? My husband is in a HWH now after 20 years and we did not do letters of support.

My husband says they don't read them anyway.

Welcome to Prison Talk Everlane. You don't say which community corrections board (research yours), Here's a link to a PTO sticky about "sample letters to the parole board" that should give you some ideas.
http://www.prisontalk.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=658065

If he has a lawyer, send the letters there first for approval.

Colorado doesn't use attorneys for parole, etc.

The reason I ask which HWH is because where my husband is, you can go before the house panel to offer your support. Also, the offender has to apply and be approved to the community corrections board then be accepted to the HWH. I do know they mainly look at the application and also get the case managers input before making a decision.

Default Community Corrections letter

[quote=Everlane;7808897]If anyone could help me with a basic idea of what to include in my letter to the community corrections board on behalf of my son, it would be greatly appreciated.

My son was in Community Corrections recently and the only thing you can do is tell them you believe he will do well and move forward with his life. My son had a hard time in there because it was so much harder to comply when they have so many rules that can be broken without much action on their part. For example, if you clean your part of the room and someone else doesnt, you get dinged for it. They treat you like a child and if you dont kiss their ass, you are put on the naughty list and they seem to make it harder for them. I hope he does well in there because it takes about 8 mths to go through the program. Good luck!

Just an update since this post was made several months ago. My husband was in prison for almost 20 years. He got approved for halfway house in December 2019. He finished the program in 4 months! Yes, it is an 8 month program but if you bust your ass and follow the rules it is possible to finish sooner. It was tough, but he said it was a lot better than prison. it's all about following the rules and you can do it
