Default Using Pacer to check on 2255 response

I have a pacer account & have previously used it to find info on my son's case. In Oct., he filed a 2255 motion & he received a letter stating that the gov't response is due today but I can't seem to find his case anywhere. How do I find it? I'm getting worried because nothing shows up .

Well, that letter proves that his motion was received. The govt may not have responded to his motion. More likely though, no one has entered their response into Pacer yet, because yesterday was a Fed holiday, and most of the Fed workforce took today off.

Where are you looking? Is it going to the Judge or has it moved to the Appellate level? If it's moved, it won't be found with his original case. If his case is NY also, the case might be found in the Second Circuit US Court of Appeals. I have noticed that the government frequently gets granted extensions in these matters, but you still should be able to find his case.

Court deadlines can be very flexible, especially for the government. Postponements, rescheduled hearings, etc.
