Default 40 Days to go!!!

I honestly cannot believe it, today on my twin daughters 18th birthday, we are at the 40 day mark.

2018 started off as probably the worst year of my life. My husband off to prison last December, dealing with being a single mom for the second time, wondering how I was going to do it, trying to manage getting my daughters through the college application process, traveling to Duluth, MN constantly, dealing with my mother in law, making ends meet without completely blowing through what savings I had left, how on earth I would make it through 422 and most importantly, would my husband be able to survive without issue.

Well, with 40 days to go, we are almost there. We are so afraid to jinx it since we are at the tail end, but for all of you that are in the middle of it, hang in there, it has actually gone by fast. We have kept busy, my kids have kept busy, my husband has had some ups and downs, but nothing earth shattering, no illnesses or injuries (he knew better than to play contact sports - not to mention he is NOT coordinated enough to do so), he stayed out of trouble, found decent roommates, I navigated the college application process, Trump has outlasted him surprisingly - but not many others in Washington have lol, I'm happy my days going to Duluth are soon over, the mother in law has been hell and probably the worst part of it (and soon to be his problem again), and 2018 is ending on a high note.

Daughter 1 - gets into her top choice college
Daughter 2- gets accepted into her ED college
First Step Act is passed and signed into law possibly just in time to help my husband
My daughters 18th birthday we hit the 40 day milestone, but if we have any luck, maybe we are really at 30 days, or less if the "elderly" clause in the bill impact my husband.

I'm looking forward to a great 2019! I have a husband coming home, but sad I will have 3 of my kids between CA, TX and NY, but we can finally be a family again.

Happy Holidays to everyone!! And, hang in there!! Good things can happen to those who work hard and earn it!!

Woooo! Under 40 days to go! Happy Holidays to you and your family! My guy is also in federal so we are hoping his release gets moved up, having him home even a day sooner would be such a gift, I'm ready to be done with the BOP!

Yes, 1 day less is SOMETHING! Our lawyer said it should be immediate and he is going to look into it because it means he should get out 10 days earlier. But, there are a couple guys that should be out now already, but of course with the government shutdown, the BOP isn't doing anything!! Need to get the government up and running so these adjustments can be done and these guys can get out of the prisons and/or the HWH or off HC if that's where it is!

And in the 30's today!!

Yes! It is hard to believe that tomorrow, I'll be saying "this month he gets out"!!

Of course, I think I'm starting now to get anxious about the routines we've created for ourselves and how I might get annoyed at something he might do because I like my space and when he's home that will change, although more likely how any time he's in the HWH that will interfere with our routines and my having to run down there and bring stuff, or get him a car, etc. Just one more person to plan things for and the limitations/restrictions while he's under the HWH rules and then Home confinement. But, after March that is done and then 6 months after that, completely done forever.

If the weather were nice out it would be less of a worry as it's easier to get around, but the fact that it's cold, fortunately not like last year and no snow really on the ground right now (hopefully that doesn't change) makes it easier to get around, but in a month, who knows? The transition would definitely be easier if he went from the prison straight home, but we don't want that. Who ever came up with the so-called idea that the current rules in a hwh or hc helps reintegrate someone back into society, has obviously never been in prison before or knows exactly what kinds of programming someone truly needs to be reintegrated back into society and that every person needs a program uniquely tailored to them based on their length of sentence, type of crime, and type of person they are and type of job they are going to get. I am going to laugh my ass off when they sit there and make my husband check the box off to sit in a resume class when he already has another white collar job and these people are telling him what a resume should look like. I get it for someone who has never had a job before or has been out for 10 years or something like that, but everyone and every case is different. You can't compare apples to apples and this is what they do and it is completely ineffective. Give them classes that can actually help them.

How about a basic cooking class for guys who don't even know how to crack an egg or guys who come out of prison single because their wives left them? Helping guys learn to be self sufficient. These guys need to function on the outside and there is a reason there is recidivism.

Ok my vent for the day.

Happy he is getting out!
