Thank you.

I use to be a member and I can't say that I know who is a member now, but you can call the prison (559-992-7100) and press 0 and ask the operator to transfer you to public information officer.
The meeting are held in a confernce room where the Wardens office is and they are every two months on the 1st Friday of the month.
Hopefully this helps you.

The next IFC meeting is Friday, April 3rd, 2009.

At this time I am not aware of any PTO members other than myself that are IFC representatives @ CSATF. If you are a representative please let me know so that I can post it in this thread.

Thank You

Anyone who is intestest in more information can do one of two things. When in visitor processing there should be applications located on a table ( in the processing for D yard it's located by the restrooms). You can fill out an application and either place it in the box there or send it to the address on the form.

If you won't be visiting for a while you can contact the Public Information Officer (PIO). Right now the PIO is Lt. Smith. Contact him and let him know you are intersted in more information about IFC. He can also let you know if there is currently a rep for your yard. If there is you can ask him to give that person your information so they can contact you. If there isn't a rep and you are interested in becoming a rep he will ask you to fill out an application.

Once you have applied it's returned to him and reviewed. If he accepts it then it's taken to the next IFC meeting and I believe they vote to decide if you're accepted. If all goes well he will contact you and return your application signed for your records.

The meetings are every other month on the 1st Friday of the month at 11:00am.

As I stated before the next meeting is April 3rd.

Yes call the prison. I usually just ask the operator for Lt. Smith the PIO but I believe his ext is 7154.

Could you please add to the agenda for the next meeting the problem with the visiting staff not updating either of the hotlines when a yard goes on lockdown.
Thanks

Does anyone know who the representative for B yard is? I have several issues of concern and because I am three hours away, I cannot participate directly in the family council, but if there is a representative for this yard, I would like to discuss these issues with him/her.

Hello everyone. The next IFC meeting is April 3rd and I have been contacted by the chairperson and asked for my list of things to have on the agenda. Thus far I have the following:

1. Updating the visiting line and direct line recordings promtly to reflect status updates.

2. Patio time possible being extended beyond 10 minutes per hour.

3. Game/book donations going to the yards directly instead of in a pool. Also a list of approved games/books.

4. Vendors offering more selections. Fresh fruit, salads, yougarts, cereal/milk.

If there is anything else please post ASAP. She would like me to get back to her with anything additional before 4pm today (Thursday, March 26)

Thank You

D Yard
LUVS,

Do you represent all of the yards?

If so, then can you mention the rediculous intercom system they use!! This must be in the newer prisons and it is so embarrassing for the inmates/families when they call you over the loud speaker. If they have something the need to say to you, for them to walk over to your table and softly say what they gotta say! How hard is it for them to get off their butts and walk over?!

And the issue with the patio is rediculous too! I'm not use to this. Over at COR1 and all of the other prisons I've been to, you can spend the entire day outside if you want; and Why can't we eat out in the patio?? That is utterly rediculous too, can't even eat on the patio. Then what is that patio for?

Thanks LUVS!!!!!

D Yard
Hi girly... i just wanted to know if the list you're making is for d-yard only or for the entire prison?? the reason why, is because my concern deals with MY YARD for sure (but i think it's because of the c.o.'s running visits), not the entire prison...

The thing is they have started telling us to leave at 2:25 p.m. And last week it was actually 2:20 p.m. The visiting hours are 8-3. Though we've never actually been able to stay 'til 3, they've always let us go at 2:50, then it went down to about 2:45... but for some reason everyday it gets reduced even more. they call pass/id pickup at 2:15 and 10 minutes later announce that visiting is over... so they're taking 35 to 40 minutes away from us...

when we leave we're the ONLY yard processing out and no others are coming from d or the f/g direction, that's why i'm pretty sure this is just a problem on e-yard...

well anyway, i'd appreciate it, if you can get this issue brought up, or maybe let the e-yard reps. know for next time. Thank you

*jaime's beauty*

JQ and Jamie's Beauty I'm the rep for D yard however I can ask the chairperson to add the concerns to the agenda. I don't know who the reps are for your yards but I will try to find out.

Jamie's the same thing happens on D yard they call us to pick up passes on Friday's around 7 and call visit over at 7:15ish. On Saturday's they've called us to pick up passes at 2:20-2:30 and call visit over shortly after so it's not just your yard but it does sound like you're getting cheated more than we are....

Would you please bring up the issue of visits while on lockdown? Other prisons allow visits on SNY yards during lockdowns. Salinas has fewer staff and they still escort inmates during lockdowns. Or at least allow non contact visits.

Also we are not allowed to alter our clothes. If it is not bought like that we can't wear it. If I buy a shirt or dress that is too low I will either sew it up or sew an insert into it so it is not low cut. I don't like turtlenecks, neither do I like showing my cleavage to anyone. I know that some people may take out the sewing or the insert, but they could unbutton their shirt as well. If they do that thern they lose their visit. But why should the rest of us suffer cuz of what someone may do. We are not inmates. I am also short and sometimes need to alter my clothes so that they fit. I can't find anything in the title 15 or DOM that says we can't alter our clothes so that they fit.
Thanks

I'm working on an email to her now.

New things I'm including are:

Reps for B & E yard

The intercom system that is used in visiting.

Losing 30-40 minutes of visiting time especially a problem on E yard

Altering clothes. (Good one because I hear them send people out all the time for sewing in a tank top or something)

If there is any last minute items please let me know.

You forgot the issue of visiting during lockdowns. And I am not talking about sewing in tank tops. I am talking about sewing the shirts closed and sewing in a small piece of mateiral so that it is not so lowcut.

I did include the visiting during lockdown in my email. I also made it general about altering clothes to fit correctly etc.
