Default Ex-Offender Resources

As an ex-offender I know how hard it is to transition back back into society and lead a productive life especially when the odds are against you. However, it is not impossible! I did four years in various prisons throughout Florida in the mid nineties. When I got out in 1999 I couldn't even find a job cleaning toilets or telemarketing! Now, four years later, I have had the opportunity to be a state and federal contractor, adjunct professor and consultant. It wasn't easy by far but I have been able to make it one day at a time and so can you! If your interested in learning how to get a job and staying straight then email me at my prisontalk email address. I have one of the most comprehensive ex-offender programs in the entire state of Florida. If I can't help you then I will try to find someone who will. I will also be happy to give you tips and advice to help you in your job search based on my own personal and professional experiences in the job market. Best Wishes...

How about Colorado and Texas? All I and a friend of mine can get are minimum wage temp. jobs and we both have master's degrees!

What about Iowa or Minnesota?? I have a young friend (24) that is without a job again. He would not be able to pay. Heck, he can't even afford to pay rent and the car payment. He has a girlfriend and little boy to support as well.

Can ex-felons even get unemployment or any kind of support?

Question How about northern Maine?

My best friend is paroling to northern Maine in July. He needs work, but we both anticipate difficulty finding employment for him. He does have a B.S. in elementary education and a background in finance. Any suggestions? Help? I love my guy so much and have a good-paying job myself, but I know he is terribly worried about finding work when he gets out.

Do you know anyone in Minnesota? My brother is getting out in 2 weeks. He used to be a roofer, but they told him he can no longer roof. He needs to be in a job where he punches in and out.

Thanks so much in advance!

How about Michigan? My husband has been out for 3 weeks and we are finding that it is nearly impossible so far for him to find any job at all.

I am planning on starting some services for parolees in Mn. I am just in the very beginning stages. But I think there is a huge need for services still, whether it is yard work, moving, landscaping work. I'm surprised someone was told he had to "punch in and out" not many jobs literally have a punch clock. Do they just want something structured enough that they know where he is?
How about making things to sell? children's play furniture? things to sell at craft fairs? I think taking minimum wage jobs is the route to STAY in poverty! I guess in the next few months I'll find out what is going on in Mn. I think getting into the construction trades is good, also. Think outside the box!

I guess most people have listd their states, I'm sure we'd all be super happy if there wer'e contacts like you in all states. Now that you've started spreading the word - now you;ll yuou'll really be working overtime finging contacts for these states!

We'd love to hear about some from VA. My husband has a job offer (Asst pastor ) in Ca (our original home) but we probably won't be there for another 18-24 mths. He's going to school full time, working part time doing laboring work he shouldn't be doing with the need for spinal surgery. We put out more and more resumes - he's got a college degree (theology and conseling), but most secular employers don't want felons.

We're holding out own. If you can refer us to someone that would be great - but until then, we will rely on the Lord to get us thru - HE ALWAYS DOES!

Thanks for sharing the info!

Blessings! PM if you'd like!

I am going to close this thread. This member was promoting pay for services which is not allowed on PTO without prior consent of the management.
