Default Will prior "3G" offense require half-time served for future non-3G offense?

As I understand, in Texas a "3G" (serious offense) requires that half-time is served before parole is even considered. My question is, if a prior 3G offense has been served, and that same person is later convicted of a NON-3G offense, will the prior automatically require half-time served again for new conviction? I understand prior criminal history could be a consideration for parole board once someone comes up for review; I want to know if prior 3G triggers this half-time requirement for any future convictions. thanks!

The prior conviction for a 3g offense will not require additional time to be served in order to become eligible for parole consideration. However, it does forever render him ineligible for discretionary mandatory supervision.

That being said, the prior offense will be a significant consideration as the Board considers the case. There are many factors that the Board weighs when voting repeat felons...
