My boyfriend just got transfered to Dodge Correctional Institution in Waupan, WI about a week and a half ago. I'm new to this site as well so I need help in several areas ;-) First, how do you post a new thread/message? And does anyone know what happens when you are first in Dodge? Can you make phone calls to loved ones? Someone else called me for my guy with a message so I am wondering why he didn't call. Is it true that they can only call once a week when they first get there? I did receive one letter but only that one phone call from someone else. Thank you in advance for any help!

My fiancee has been at Dodge since the middle of November. He has been patiently waiting his way through all of the exams they put you through. Yes they are generally allowed only one phone call per week. One total. Apparently some CO's don't write it down, so they can sometimes get away with additional calls.

He might have called in that three way version because if you don't have a phone that can currently accept either collect calls or a pre paid account with a telephone service company, then he may not even be able to call you.

They will most likely not let him have his ring, simply because as my fiancee put it, "they think we're all up to no good" LOL...they even get flexible pens in there so they can't stab someone with one.....

Expect not a lot of communication from him during this time frame, but letters. This is a transfer phase, so just have faith that once he gets staffed he'll get to have his ring and use the phone pretty much whenever he wants.

Although we're still waiting.....

Your bf will go through lots of testing...he will be pricked with everything and they will also test him on academics. He will be pretty much on lock down 23 hours of the day. He will get to request a prison he would like to go to... So start doing your research.
He only gets one call. But he can call anyone not just family. You need a plan like stated above.
I had the same problem with posting in the beginning. Private message me if you still need help, but you posted here so it seems like you already know haha. Good luck to you.
My husband just left dodge on dec 6th so I just went through it all.

It does not have to be blood. They could be step or adoptive.

My friend has also just been transferred to Dodge. Do they have to share a cell? My friend is mentally ill and he can't cope with sharing.

Hi. I was just released from the Wisconsin DOC. Dodge is the receiving institution where your husband will be evaluated and a security rating (MAX, MEDIUM, MIN) will be assessed. He will likely not be there any more than 4 months but could stay longer (not likely). If he arrives at Dodge with his wedding ring he should be able to keep it. If not, you can send him one that is valued at $75 or less. (It sux, I know.)
He will need to add you to his visiting list which means he must send you a form to complete that you send to the prison. He will be able to call you at least once a week and it costs $.12 per minute.
I guess I could go on and on about what to expect...If you have ANY questions please feel free to contact me at supty617@gmail.com
I would be more than happy to help!

I feel like a weirdo doing all this research for my guy while he's in Dodge. They really do give them a choice to go to a certain prison?? I'm so new to this entire scene... I've only been on PTO since his 5 OWI charges were brought to light this yr (they all happened in less than a year).

I have only been told from a friend of mine which prisons her husband seemed to like the most... He hasn't and won't communicate with me because he doesn't want to communicate with anyone in the "outside world" because it'll make him feel worse. I guess I do get it but I know for my own selfish reasons I really wish he would reconsider. I mean - we have one child together so far and I'm pregnant with our second (my third). .. except this time his dream for getting a little girl the first time - has come true this time. IDK.... just confused and frustrated. Not knowing what goes on in there starts to eat away after awhile.
