Default Out of state transfer

My brother is at ISCC and is one of the inmates selected for transfer out of state due to overcrowding. Does anyone have any information about how we might appeal this?

Unfortunately, once IDOC has made its selections, there aren't very many avenues to protest, from what I understand.

About the only way I can think to get out of it is if he had some sudden serious medical issue come up where he would be better treated at ISCI (the main prison Yard here in Boise). Or if he got into enough new trouble that his points got escalated to a point where he'd be sent to Max (also here in Boise) instead of medium-custody, since only medium-custody prisoners qualify for transfer, as I understand. Or if he decided to PC up (be sent to Protective Custody, up at Orofino) but none of those options are rather appealing, since he'd lose much of his day-to-day freedom and have to live in much more restrictive housing if he went any of those routes.

I've heard that the main candidates for transfer down to Texas are those medium-custody prisoners who have at least 5 years left to serve before they even go to Board.

How much time does your brother have left? When does he next see the parole board?

This as happened to me my husband as be taking to Texas, where they are being housed in jails they are being split between two jails but many or all will soon be moved permanently to eagle pass. How long for us unclear it could be between 2-5 years. It’s really sad as I’m unable to visit.
