Wow... I feel bad for you girls. My husband was in reception in Indiana for 14 days before moving to mainline prison.... I would have went crazy if he was there for months. I am sorry that you all have to go through that. My heart is sad for you...

From the looks of how "reception" is...he could get released before he even gets transferred. right?

How can I communicate with him? Can I send letters? If so...how?
you can call Nksp and ask for records n theyyll give you his housing unit and ddeff. No phone calls at reception/: my man been there since sept../:
seems like lvl 1&2 get mainlined first than lvl 3&4

It all depends on how fast the counselor process their paperwork. If the counselor are on their game then it shouldn't take long. My husband arrived at Wasco Dec 17. Saw his counselor Feb 15 and was transferred out March 5. I've been on this road more times than I'd like to admit.

Once the counselor see's the inmate they get put on the list to be mainlined. How long that takes depends on the prisons he was endorsed to. Once a bed opens up at either facility he will be put on the list to be picked up.

The longest my husband has ever been in reception ( over the years) has been 6 months. But I know currently there are guys pushing almost one year and they've seen a counselor already. Usually that means their paperwork is held up somewhere or just lost or misplaced. If after 3 weeks of seeing a counselor and no transfer has happen I would contact the counselor or R&R.

Good luck.

On April 8th it will be exactly 1yr that my husband has been in reception He got there April 2011, he seen his counselor in July 2011 and in February 2012 got endorsed. He is currently in Wasco and i am hoping since he's been endorsed already he will be leaving soon.

If you go to the out of state forum there you will find a list of all the private prisons in Arizona. From what I have read over the years is that visiting is better, food is better, more room in the cells, and if I'm not mistaken they can have video games and such in their special packages.

Did you use the worksheet?? You can get almost an exact date. Yes he will get day for day if he's serving 50%.

If you go to the "what you need to know" forum there is a "sticky" with the title like " calculation worksheet" something like that theres a zip file on it. Download it and you the appropriate sheet with 50,80 or 85%.

I'd put the link but I'm using the app so I can't copy the link.

He does not have to go thru reception, but he might make a stop at Wasco reception for a night or two while they pick up more inmates. Once he gets to Calipatria he might have orientation. Hope this helps.
