Default Transferring from Sheridan to Mendota...

My boyfriend was told several weeks ago that he was being transfered out but given no other information until today. He's now been informed that he is going to Mendota but they still wont give him a date. I'm hoping someone that has been through this experience may enlighten me as to how this works. Will he be shipped via plane....or possibly bussed? I've heard mention of a possible stay at Victorville while in transit. With all the resent unrest and lockdowns at Sheridan I worry I may not know what has happened to him if I dont hear from him like usual. Does the transfer process take long? Thank you in advance for any information shared....

From Oregon to CA will most likely be done by bus, but anything is possible. He will not know when he is leaving until shortly before he does, and he may be unable to notify you when that happens. The bop considers when, and sometimes even where, a prisoner is moving to be a security risk.

Hopefully, for his sake, it will be a direct move from Sheridan to Mendota, but it will be completely up to the bop and/or the US marshals so it might include numerous "in transit" stopovers too.

Thank you for your reply! I'm hoping sense he was self surrender and is going from camp to camp plus he only has 8 months to go that they may decide to go the direct bus route. That seems like the best option to maintain communication. Fingers crossed! Thanks again for your time!

He may even be able to be approved for a non-escorted furlough from camp to camp. Prison to HWH transfers are almost all handled that way, and the warden can also approve them for camp to camp moves. It will depend on their policy at Sheridan, but he can ask his unit team about it.

If he is moved there by the bop or marshals, it will be in chains..

Thank you. I will see if he's aware of that.

Hello PDXLife, my husband has been told that there are going to be some people moved there and we hope he is not one of them! Did your boyfriend get told this by an actual officer? I was just hoping it was a rumor...
