Unhappy Shattered. Partner was charged with another offense while serving time

It's like the never ending sentence. My partner was charged with another offense while serving time for something else. And while we have all heard the "I didn't do it" excuse I actually believe it. However, the three day trial whereby he was only a minor part became a 6 week trial where we was formally charged and then found guilty. Upon sentencing it was estimated by all that at worst it would be an extra 4 months. We were happy to accept that. However, today it became much worse. An extra 14 months. I'm shattered. I don't know what to think or do. He was supposed to come home in September this year and now it's October next year. He wants to apply for appeal bail and to my knowledge the notice of intention to appeal has been lodged.

Does anyone know how this system works?

I just can't believe it.

I wish I had answers for you Best I can offer is a hug I'm so sorry....I know an additional 14 months sounds like a lifetime, and its way more than you expected, but one day it will all be over and he'll be HOME.

I'm so sorry to hear that. I know what it feels like when what's expected to happen doesn't. We were told that he would probably get 6 months, but ended up getting 20 months. That was a total shock, that no one was expecting. Hold tight, it will end, and you will have him home again. It is easy to loose faith in our so called justice system. Big hug for you too!

Hey Nomes,

Thanks for asking.

Legal aid have approved the funding and we have just sent the letter of requesting the original solicitor. Who knows how long or if that will happen. My partner seems think it won't be heard until November so he is patiently waiting, I'm stressing. He was originally supposed to be in three weeks time.

I actually think it's worse not knowing when it will end.

Bellie xx
