Talking Release date? Parole approved FI-6R, 5/6/16 Program complete 10/4/17

My husband was approved for parole with FI-6R on 5/6/2016. They told him he would leave for the program February 2017, and be finished by August 2017. He ended up leaving for the program 2 months late because they were behind, and he got there April 4,2017 and completed the 6month program at Leblanc in Beaumont, TX on October 4,2017. (He has been approved for parole for 17 months and still not released yet!!!)

Someone filed a lawsuit I believe, because of the heat at Gist Unit . And it not having air conditioner. So they recently switch Leblanc Unit inmates to Gist and Gist unit inmates to Leblanc. From what I have seen from people in the past released from programs it takes about 7-12 days for the release date to pop up . I still havenít seen it . Do you think this move will delay the releases? How long did it take for your loved one to get a release date ? Or be released.

Iím excited this 4 year journey is almost over. I know it could be worse, but damn this has sucked!!! Any info helps about the release!!?

Once someone is program complete, there is a process where the list goes to Programs in HV who then has to certify the completion for Austin. After that, a check is performed that looks at disciplinary, makes sure there are no new protests, makes sure there are no new detainers and a few other checks. After THAT, then the certificate will print and steps will be taken to coordinate a release date and location.

Remember that we had Columbus Day since the program completion and some TDCJ personnel had that day off. Additionally, if the release requires the HWH component of aftercare, there are some delays related to backlogs associated with the flooding. Slowly, those are working themselves out...

It is disingenuous to view the vote date as a clock-ticking begin date. The vote was for a program. The programs can be set for a ways in the future, some longer than existed in this case. The release in THIS case is roughly consistent with what the Board anticipated with its vote.

Sorry I don't have an answer for you but am just wondering, is the gist unit taking over the program entirely and what program was it? We're just starting this adventure, supposed to start class in December. Good luck and I hope like crazy they get y'all a date soon. I can't imagine waiting like that.

Yes , they moved everyone to Leblanc and they will be taking over. According to my husband there havenít been any counselors or they havenít been doing classes for the people who havenít finished yet. I think the move has delayed some things. I hate it there the guards are so annoying. We used to qualify for special visits at Leblanc, and now they only give you 2 hour visits instead of 4 there. Anyways but He got a certificate of release paper on 10/23/2017, and finally got a release date on 10/27/2017 for ( 11/6/2017), yay! Good luck with your situation.
