Default First visit experience - Western IL

This week we had our first visit!! It was so good seeing him again!!!❤ The trip was couple hours, easy drive. Country highway, farms and marsh lol. Plenty of gas stations. Minutes away from Western are McDs, Subway, Caseys, Dollar Store. A decent looking small hotel.

At Western I left everything in the car except money, car keys, ID. For ID I had license & SS card. Kids' birth certs. Check in was quick. I brought the Potential Visitor form. Bought a vending card for $5. You can use any bills to add money. We waited like five minutes then taken in another room for frisk. I had a high neck loose white tunic with long loose cardi over. She said my bra was too visible. I had a spare shirt in the car and put it under. I wear a religious head scarf and removed it during the frisk then put it back on. I had written to the warden ahead of time about the scarf and the approval was on file. (brought my copy) Keys & IDs went in a free locker and I took the key in with me.

After frisk I signed in, went through metal detector, then taken through courtyard and doors to visiting area. We were assigned a table and officer sat at front of room. Had to wait like 20 mins before hubby showed up. Then everyone was all smiles!!! Hugs and kisses then sat down. The kids were real quiet then warmed up. We bought a pack of cards and played, ate, drank soda, talked. Spent $40. Machines have salad, fried chicken, burgers, junk food, ice cream. Photo person wasn't there so no pictures.

We held hands over table and played with his hands. My youngest kept getting up, standing by him, moving around. I told her to sit but officer didn't say anything. Officers were cool the whole visit. Took kid to restroom and another officer was called to escort. Takes a while for the escort so if you have kids, don't let them wait last minute. Used restroom by visiting area and quick frisk.

After the visit was over, hubby waved but the officer didn't respond so we all got up together. One more big hug and kiss before goodbye!!!! I asked the kids how it went? They said real good and want to visit again soon

How was your bra too visible? I’m gonna be out at Dixon (visiting from VA) in August and I’m scratching my head about what’s gonna be ok.

Or here, can I wear cargo capris? Capris with buttons or buckles? Do they have to be super loose (I’ve got a huge butt). Can I wear jeans? Denim capris?

What about shoes? Flip flops? Converse sneakers?

Converse yes, flip flops no. Denim capris and cargos yes. I wear tight jeans, they just have to be jeans not “jeggings”. No one piece outfits or skirts that are above the knee when sitting.

And little ones need to be covered. If you bring little girls and you have them in a dress, make sure they have tights or leggings on underneath. No short shorts either especially for little ones, even infants.

All I can say is there is a solid reason for this - not everyone in prison is nice.

No flip flops? I wear flip flops/sandals during the summer when I go
Visit. I have never been told, it’s not allowed.
Anyhow, no ripped jeans or shorts. I believe if the Rio is at knee level or below, they don’t trip but it can’t be above the knee.
