Update on Kulani Correctional Facility

Dear Moderator: please update your information on Kulani Correctional Facility. It no longer houses inmates of the state prison system. For reference, please go to this link:

The document is a State of Hawaii Senate Concurrent Resolution talking about transferring the lands of the former Kulani Correctional Facility (closed 2009) to the Department of Defense for a Youth Challenge Academy.

I have updated the list to reflect Kulani's closing. It appears that the State of HI will be trying to reopen it sometime soon. They are working on a plan to do this and hope to have it in the works by the end of 2011.
