Default hi everyone

I'm in mn, but i have a long time love in Lieber CI... I'll give you a briefing... We met in hs, here in mn about 14 years ago- i was a freshman, he a sophmore. We dated through my junior year then he moved with his father to SC 6 days after he graduated. He was arrested and charged with murder almost a year after he got there. We lost contact, but 14 years later, he found me. I'm a CJ major and never thought i'd get caught up on this end of the system, but as cliche as it sounds, he truly is the love of my life and i feel as though we were always meant for each other. He got 20 and he will have hit 10 years in April. I know SC isn't big on parole and I'm terrified we won't have the chance to start over when he gets out, but i'm stickin' to it. I haven't seen him in nearly 12 years and yet somehow when the letters come it feels like I haven't lost a day. I never imagined i would be on a prison talk website divulging my cheesy side, but it's really hard to talk to people about what it feels like to be in my shoes- this may save my sanity. I'm moving to Charleston in August- yes, because i'd like to be able to visit, but also because i need a change of scenery !!! I do have a question- does anyone know what the sent. guidelines for second degree murder is in SC? Thanks for all the great talk, I'm so incredibly grateful!

Hi & welcome to PTO. My son was also originally charged with murder but it was reduced to voluntary manslaughter. It was explained to us when he was arrested that South Carolina does not have various degrees of murder charges. Also, most violent crimes are considered non-parolable offenses. Have you checked the SCDC website for his max-out date? That might help. Good luck.

Sure, his was a plea bargain. He pled guilty to voluntary manslaughter and the charge of murder was dropped.

Yeah, he opted to drop the vol manslaughter charge because his attn. was a complete a** and told him it was not giulty or he quit, so guess what? He caught mrder and got life. It's so ugly. His lawyer threatened him and scared the crap out of him through the whole thing. His mom and I are trying to find anyway to help, but I just don't even know where to start or what there is to try!
