Default When sending money in WA does it have to be a postal money order?

I was just wondering if anyone knows whether or not when you send money to someone locked up in WA if it has to be a postal money order or not?

As far as I know, no it does not. Personally I have sent Money orders to Steve that have come from The Post Office, Grocery Stores, Convenience Stores, etc...and I have never had a problem with one being accepted.

It used to be back in the 1980's that you had to send either a postal money order or a cashiers check for the inmate to get it in a timely manner. If you sent a store MO it would take 2 weeks to clear. I'm not sure when it all changed, I still get the postal MO's out of habit!!

I have always gotten postal MO's...because I hear that they still do clear faster and also, if ever lost, they are easier and faster to trace than others.

I was always told it had to be a postal money order, you cant forge those.
Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.
