Default Ex employee under investigation

I was a teacher at a unit, got too involved with a student, resigned, but then I wrote him letters. I met with the oig and she went through letters with me and asked lots of questions. They took the letters and locked him in solitary and now I'm afraid I'll be charged with something. They found money I'd put on his books too. We never had any physical contacts (no hugging no kissing etc). There are a few other things I did that she didn't mention so I didn't offer that info. She may come back to me later but I am not sure. don't know if I need a lawyer or what. Any suggestions?

Sorry you are in this situation. You should be very very cautious posting any information online or anywhere really about an ongoing case as they can and likely will get warrants for your online activity.

You should get an attorney now if you are able to get ahead of the system.

Hi there ,please dont admit to anything or talk to anyone again without legal advice. You are likely being investigated and its advisable to get legal advice to know what you may be dealing with. Your lawyer will tell you what is likely to happen and what is the best option for you.
I would also advise that you cease any contact with the inmate until you know what the situation is.
They will be looking at whether you bought in contraband or have given information that may compramise the security of the institution.

You knew very well what the out come of over familiarity with a resident would result with the minimum of your termination of employment. You took care of that part. Now I suggest that you never discuss this matter with your former employer without counsel present. As far as future employment in your present field depends on the out come of this incident. Think with your mind not your heart , cut off any contact with this person
Stay quiet do not to talk to any one about this incident without counsel.

Unethical maybe....not sure how this is immoral or illegal (she has not admitted to any actual violation of law and neither sexual contact nor movement of contraband were mentioned.)

To the OP.....

I definitely advise talking to an attorney. Whether or not you will actually need one depends on exactly what you are being accused of doing. If sexual contact is not alleged and if you are not being accused of bringing in contraband, you might be in the clear. However, without knowing what they know, you definitely want to consult with an attorney.

Good luck.

He will be dusted for time and time-earning status (if that has not already happened). OP will be prohibited from setting foot on a unit for probably at least two years. Expect restrictions on phone access as well in addition to mail being scrutinized.

As far as free-world charges, there won't likely be any repercussions for OP as long as no contraband was introduced and there was no sexual contact. Absent a reading of rights, OP was being questioned for the purposes of building the disciplinary and also the possibility of sending a file to the State Board of Education if OP holds a true teaching credential...
