Default The One Thing You Wouldn't Want To See Anyone Go Through!

If you could discourage someone from doing one thing, what would it be?

Having unprotected sex and bringing an unplanned child into the world (not to mention the disease risk).

Being clicked on in prison by a gang or group.

Get in trouble. Once you did someting stupid and get arrested for it, it will ruin your life. Think about the consequences ALL THE TIME!

Its not actually what you go through, in this case its what goes through you. And the route is not desirable. You only do it once though!

I'm awful, but this made me laugh and have a major Fargo flashback.

I had a therapist who did, though. Not fully (obviously) but her hand.

I guess my response would be anything that altered/damaged someone so severely as to suffer PTSD. It's insidious. It affects your entire life. It can be lessened and coached into a manageable state, but it's hell until you're there and you're never the same.

I have an additional question because I'm honestly surprised it hasn't been said here, yet. Why is cancer considered the worst diagnosis? I mean that seriously. There are the clear answers: deadly, potentially painful, life-altering, treatment is rough. But there are illnesses that aren't cancer that have the same exact list of suckage and they get little recognition for how awful they are. We've done an amazing job of marketing cancer as the worst thing ever that we created this sad shadow that other ill folks now live in. I'm ranting, I suppose. But I guess what I want to say is this: instead of "Thank goodness it wasn't cancer" maybe we could say, "wow, that's tough. how does it affect you?" when someone is diagnosed. Because one of the worst things I wouldn't want anyone else to go through is having their struggle constantly held in comparison to the idea of someone else's.

I might need a mental health day.

That moment where truly believing that ending your life is the only way.

Our loved ones in prison go through this more than we are told and or think about. They see it, they think it, they battle it & they survive it... I am referring to our loved ones here because this is where I advocate loving a lifer. In and out of prison, there are too many battling suicide.

I carry a semi-colon tattoo for my daughter. She suffers from depression and suicidal ideation.

Nerve infection

Gangrene

ALS

Caring for late stages dementia in a loved one

Having a psychopath for an older brother

Discovering your aged dog passed in his sleep

Confessing instead of demanding a lawyer

Childhood sexual assault

Addiction

Cops with no mental health training responding to a mental health call

Homelessness

Knowing your children are hungry and having no way to alleviate that hunger

Dealing with a child with a fatal illness (the first funeral I attended was for a 6 year old cousin. His entire illness, 3 years of that life, was amazingly painful)

Having a loved one murder another loved one

Having a child with the wrong person who insists on using said child as a weapon instead of co-parenting

Getting arrested in a place like Iran, where your trial may happen without your knowledge and where they tend to torture confessions out of people

A federal criminal prosecution, bop prison, and the never ending post-prison repercussions, especially for any one of the countless crimes that are only illegal here in the "land of the free".
