Arrow When does institutional parole agent call to verify Home Plan?

Hey all! When does the institutional parole agent call to verify home plan?? Iíve seen peopleís loved ones having hearings and the parole agent in the SCI calls their families the SAME day as the hearing to confirm the home plan. My LO is paroling out of state to his mothers house and he saw parole this week but the jail agent hasnít called?? My LO said the interview went well and no midsconducts, programs completed, etc. whatís up??

From my experience being in a Penn State Prison it is not the institution's parole agent that verifies/approves the home plan the institution's parole agent forwards the home plan information/form that was filled out by the inmate to the district office in charge of the area where he will be living. It is that office that verifies/investigates the proposed home plan of the inmate.

There really is not set time limit where the PO in that district office must contact the home plan provider to set up an appointment for a visit to the home where the inmate plans on living. They do try and have it done within 30 days but again there really is not limit from what I have heard.

I will tell you than in some cases the PO instead of calling to set up an appointment will just show up when they want to at the home without any advanced notification. My loved one (he lives with me) had this happen. I never received a call from his PO, he just showed up one day. I was not home at the time but I called him back (he left contact information at the door) and we set up an appointment for the next day. I guess they do this to find out what the living arrangement will really be like if they just show up and surprise the home plan provider.

I would just be patient. Again there really is no set time limit. Unfortunately a parole decision can take up to 12 weeks also. I remember waiting on my parole decision. It took 5 weeks and I don't think I had one moment where I did not have anxiety waiting for an answer. I found out that the home plan was approved at the same time I found out I was granted parole.

I just realized after reading your post again and after writing what I did above the following:

This may cause a very long delay. This is an Inter-State parole. This from what I know can take up to three months. As far as I know there is a $100 non-refundable fee also. The process is much longer since he is paroling outside his state.

Here is a link to the Interstate Compact for parole transfers web page, ICAOS. https://www.interstatecompact.org/icaos-rules

Their approval decision can definitely slow down the process.

If he has already filed the OOS home plan application AND paid the non-refundable fee, the Board will transmit the application to the receiving state as soon as they grant parole. (If parole is denied, the packet is not sent.) The timeline then depends heavily on the receiving state. Once it's returned to PA with approval, then the Board processes his release. This takes time.
