Default Bibb County Correctional Facility Kitchen Conditions

Bibb County Correctional Facility Kitchen Conditions

According to a report filed by Moore and Associates, an independent consultation firm on May 30-31, 2002:

A review of the kitchen indicated the following deficiencies:
There was an opening under the main outside door of the kitchen where insects, reptiles, and vermin could enter the food preparation area.

There was no signs in the inmates bathrooms to remind them of hand washing.

It was also noted that all sixty of the tables that the inmates sit at during meals were heavily rusted. It was reported that the dish was room was very hot. During a visit to this crowded area it was found to be hot and very poorly ventilated. Fans have been added to attempt to help this situation, however a large ventilation fan may be required to remove the hot and humid air to avoid potential heat strokes and heat exhaustion of workers in this area.

I know this post originated in February but I just wanted to share with all of you.

I was going through old articles about Bibb CF and came across this. Joe, my Fiance, works in the kitchen at Bibb CF, so I asked him today how were the conditions in there. He said that there was not a fan to cool it enough not to severely sweat in the kitchen. Hygene is such an unimportance to some that he would just rather fix himself a sandwich then to have to eat food that has been handled by others. I asked about the "gap" under the door. They are still there, but he did tell me that right infront of the doors where the gaps are that they put these rat traps. I guess like a "roach motel". It doesn't kill the rats, they go in but they don't come out. I don't understand. Joe's comment, "If the Health Department were to come in here, this kitchen would be shur down." Aren't Alabama Prisons checked by the Health Department? Just thought that everyone would like to know that things hadn't changed much in the past six months.
