I had always heard of what a hell hole Cook County jail has been, but I've experienced it first hand (ok second hand) with my LO who has been stuck there for the last 8 months, delayed because of Covid and still waiitng for a plea deal. From the inept medical attention, to the mail room that continually loses his mail, to the rude staff answering calls in any dept., and the surly and downright a-holes working the entrances and security. All I can gather is all of these individuals must truly hate their jobs, and I can almost sympathize with them in what seems to be such an understaffed, overcrowded (even with the covid "clean out"), and outdated place. But it's no excuse; looking at what our loved ones have to endure as they await decisions, with the lousy food and overpriced commissary. My feelings and prayers go out to all those who are encarcerated there as well as their loved ones, that they all will get through their ordeals safely and with happy conclusions.

My sister is a Sgt. there and it’s been no picnic for them either. That place truly is a hell hole and destroys all human spirit.

Yes with such a huge inmate population, there is also a huge employee base, and I'm sure there are many good ones and they are not all bad. Unfortunately all I've dealt with so far are real jerks. It cant be easy for them. Hope your sister gets by safely there.
