New Jersey Covid -19 (Corona Virus) news & informationPlease use this forum to share information concerning Covid -19 in New Jersey, including institutions affected and lock downs. Please do not discuss individuals who have the virus.
I just heard from my loved one that they were starting medical screenings and that on Nov 4th NJ DOC is planning a high volume release of prisoners.
When he asked how long the medical exam was good for the nurse said 30 - 60 days.
According to NJ 2519 folks can get a maximum of 244 credit days for time served during the pandemic.
Obviously my loved one is freaking out since he thought he had almost a year to do and from his email I'm not terribly sure if he's asking me to pinch him and find out if it's real lol. Or if he's stating it for a fact that he'll be getting out soon.
Anyone hearing anything?

Yes it's for real! lol. I know at South Woods they have canceled visits for that day because over 100 guys are getting let out. My penpals cellmate is one of those who is getting out.

Well maybe you can clarify for me because I read the law and it confused me. 6 or 4 months of credit for every month served with a max of 12 or 8 months credit. Apparently the House and Senate passed different versions of the bill? (I'm not entirely sure reading the thing.)
Are they getting up to 12 months credit or only up to 8 months? My guy did his medical exam which he assumed was for his release but those are supposed to only be good for 30 - 60 days. If they get 12 months credit then he'll be out soon, but if it's only 8 then he'll be out mid-February and would need another medical exam.
Either way it's great news because apparently he had no clue about it. He saw the notice and was hyped as heck! lol

Your man was/is at Southwoods? That's where my husband is. He was just tranferred there. He was supposed to go to minimum security, but that is definitely not where he is. Do you have any idea what is going on over there? He did 2 weeks quarantine at Craf then 2'weeks quarantine at sw and now was supposed to go to the camps but is somewhere else locked in a cell all but 15 minutes per day. I've spoken with him twice in 40 days for a total of 15 minutes. It's over crowded, there's no keeping one in touch with family as they claim on their website. It's miserable. Did you man get his release? Was he reaching his max release date? I've read that bill over and over and it's not clear as to who gets it. They ALL should get credit for this miserable bs they are having to bare.
