Default Anyone else with a loved one at Logan?

Does anyone else have a loved one at Logan CC? My fiancee has been back there since June 1. Was just wondering if anyone else has someone there.

I do, my friend is there serving time. They’ve been on lockdown on and off for a couple weeks now. Broken phones, heat and fights.

I talked to my girl today once they got off lockdown. Shine had heard that they were on lockdown this time because someone called in a bomb threat. That would explain why Lincoln next door was also on lockdown. She just started in the kitchen and says it’s the “news hub” of the prison.

All the lockdowns suck but I’ve been pretty lucky the 5 times I’ve gone to visit. They haven’t been full any of the days so they haven’t seemed concerned about how long visits last. I think my shortest visit has been 7 hours and I’ve stayed all day three times. Only once has a CO had an issue with our little make out session at the beginning or end of visits but once she left nobody has cared.

As long as they are not full they have never said anything about how long people have stayed. Maybe I've just been lucky on the days I've visited that they haven't been completely full.

These constant lockdowns are crap, they are back on lockdown again for like the fourth time in a week and a half. They just got off lockdown yesterday morning only to be back on lockdown again this afternoon! I don't know what I would do if they had the situation like Menard has had being locked down for what seems like months at a time.

My husband was at menard. He’s now at Pinckneyville. Both are hellholes.

I'm currently going to have my sentencing and sent to Logan in a month. Is there anything you can tell me to help? Can you get packages? Ive never been incarcerated and trying to prep on the outside world to make it an easy transition....

Hey there. Sorry to hear that. The hardest and most trying part will be reception. It takes about a month at Logan but there is a new warden there so maybe they’re getting it together. Yes you can have magazines, softcover books, puzzle books. You want mail during receiving, you do t really ever get the phone and and are locked down most of the day. Have a little money put on your books right away you’ll only get to shop once but don’t know when it’ll be. After you’re settled then you can buy a tv if you want one and other clothing essentials for the winter. Keep to yourself as much you can. Don’t accept shit cuz nothing is free, and get into classes to earn good times (if you’re charge is eligible for that). If you have kids they do family weekends now and a few new programs for women. I saw your post about the meds and if you’re on Benzos start weaning now. You’ll get klonopin for 5 days to bring you down and you’ll be in medical. After you’re in gen pop they’ll bring you your meds. Substitutions are really tough to avoid in IDOC so hopefully what you’re on is substitutable but def go for it like yourself said. Oh and have your securus phone account set up and funded when you go in so you can call should the opportunity arise. Best of luck to you! Remember it’s temporary, your future is not. Literally hundreds of thousands of women go thru it. We’re resilient queens and you will come out the other end stronger.
