Let me go ahead and give you a little of what I know so far since he's been in there in the meantime. They only way they can get money is through a money order to a whole different address from the one you would usually send a letter too (absurd right?) That address is p.o. box 1650 tallulah, la 71282. Visits are always just the 2nd weekend of the month from 1-5. They start taking ppl at 1 and then after at 3 (make sure you get there at 1 or 3 and not in between or you'll wind up having to wait somewhere for an hour or so like I did today when I went). The only dress code is that you cant wear anything showing skin or revealing. You have to set up securus for the phone and depending where you live depends on what the rate is. Since im in the 504 area the calls are $5 per 15 mins (SMH). This isn't DOC (meaning federal prison like angola and such) It is a private owned facility by Madison Parish and they have their own f*cked up rules and of course have their own policies and procedures. My b/f has been there 2 months now after being transferred from DOC.

I'm actually surprised to see that address you send money orders to. For me to send money to my girlfriend in the female facility, I have to send it to that same p.o. box.

His.biggest fear is me abandoning him. His ex did so while he was very ill. I don't mind reasureing him if I could. I understand the fear well. He has no one else. Even his family has abandoned him over something his aunt did and he didn't. Im not abt to let him down. He's a good man this happened to him after we become a couple. He's never been in trouble before. I am really worried. When he starts to panic he ends up sick. This is the most frustrating thing!

Dixie,

You should call them directly or go on the louisiana doc website (you can google it and itll be the first site). Find some important phone numbers and call to find out what to do in his situation.

They are most rude there. I've tried talking to them. He listed me as er contact, and I have poa over his affairs. They don't care! I wished I knew someone that lived in the Shreveport area that had someone there. I don't have a car so I can't go see him. I write him nearly every day.

There is something in the collect calling world called a toll limit. Many regular telephone providers will only bill out a certain amount on your phone bill, and then you have to make prepay arranglements through Securus. You can call them and ask to be billed direct, but the chances of that are slim. You will simply have to prepay. Wish you the best of luck, hope you get to talk to your loved one soon.

Ok I called this place...They are trying to tell me there's NO councilor. Ok How do I see to what needs to be handled. NO one will tell me ANYTHING. I was even told they wouldn't tell me if he was sick even though I'm his ONLY contact! I have the papers to PROVE I have the right to know.

Dixie,
I realize that I'm replying to an old post, but I have a loved-one in Madison (4 months, now) and I could use someone to talk to, as well.
