Thank you. Every time she was moved around from jail to jail before they finally took her to prison, I couldn't sleep. It's the same now, as I'm such a worried mother. My daughter is really quite a softie and I hope she stays that way. This is surely a reality check for her.

Be sure to take care of yourself so you can continue to support your Daughter. If you are upset so much that you can't sleep, talk to your doctor before it makes you physically ill.

Thanks,. She sounded better today. I put some money on her books so she can get tennies, shorts, etc. I think she's just frightened and needs to get acclimated. I really appreciate the great support of this group. Do you know if there is anyone I can write to to ask about getting her closer to home? There is a prison in Minnesota that would be a 4 hour trip rather than a 13 hour one. I would like to be closer so I can bring her 4 children to visit her.

There aren't many other available options unless her custody points make her "camp eligible". She can ask her unit team (counselor, case manager, unit manager) for a copy of her custody score sheet. It will be recomputed once a year, and her score will drop as she completes a bigger percentage of her sentence. Here's the bop program statement that contains the computation worksheet.
https://www.bop.gov/policy/progstat/5100_008.pdf

If she does have a low enough score for a minimum security camp, (0 - 15 points for females) she can request a transfer to the correct security level immediately. If not, she can apply after 18 months of clear conduct in the SFF. Maybe someone else will know what, if any, higher security female prison options are available.

Google "dublin prison talk" and then "more results" for archived posts about that women's prison. I hope that helps.

How do I get my reg.# before I get there....
I want to mail stuff before I get there but I don't have my #???
Can I bring money with me for commissary... and if not what is the fastest way to get it there

Your inmate number will show up on the inmate locator before your self surrender date (XXXXX-XXX). The local US Marshal's office may have it already.

You can take money with you when you SS. My experience was that it took over 3 weeks for it to post to my inmate account, but some other folks have said that they had better results. Once you know your ID #, you can deposit money by Western Union, or mail a US Post Office money order to the lockbox in Des Moines, Iowa. All other money orders are held for 15 days.

Welcome to Prison Talk and the federal forums. Self surrender date can be either a day set by your sentencing judge, or whenever the bop designation office decides where you are headed. Usually a month or more.
