My husband is new to Centinela and is waiting to be classified. He said it takes up to 14 days. How true is that? Im hoping to see him for Christmas. We are new to the system and it can get very frustrating.

Yeah that's right...it's working days tho so holiday doesnt count. It took the co's over a month to classify by bf due to lockdown. They'll find anything to drag the process on...one of the co's told me and my bf that the other co's are lazy! Don't lose hope because it will get done. You can still visit and have no contact. I did that several times...it was worth being able to talk to him and see him. I was able to visit the whole time. Keep calling the records department and asking if he has been classified yet.

Do they limit noncontact visits to one hour like in reception? My husband got there on Nov 13 but left a week later for a court issue in LA County and just got back to Centinela this past Thursday so im assuming his wait starts over to be classified.Oh yeah I call all the time. I think I find out things faster then he does. Its just hard for my little ones to understand because they want to touch Daddy. Thanks for your help!

I was approved at wasco sp and ma man was transfered to cen but i still had to fill out another form!! You should send it in just to be on the safe side!! Since your already approved, it will take less than 2 weeks to hear back from them!!

If you were approved in another prison you should be okay to visiit him at Cent as long as he didnt parole out. You just wont have contact visits until he's classified. Yo can call records to see if that's happened yet.

What why don't level 3 get contact visits? Is it for all level 3 or just certain inmates?

I think that steez meant that level 3 and 4, both get contact visits. Non-contact visits are based on individual circumstances or if they haven't gotten classifieed yet.

My husband got there on Dec 4 and just got classified last tuesday. They classify on Tues. and fridays. Call records and ask to speak to his counselor. They might tell you what day he is scheduled for. My husbands counselor told me. They are supposed to classify them by day 30. Due to the holidays and out of state transfers they running behind. I know it feels like forever..........
