Default Parole and Housing Assistance?

My husband is up for parole next month in West Virginia. We have completed the paperwork for the IPO at his facility to send an interstate transfer to Washington if he is granted parole. However, the IPO has stated that West Virginia typically does not allow an inmate to parole to a home that receives housing assistance but because he would be paroled to Washington it is up to Washington.
I currently receive rental assistance through the Housing Authority for the home that I am renting. Will this impact Washington's decision to approve the transfer? I do not live in a public housing complex and rent from a private owner who has already granted approval for my husband to move in. I have also spoken to the Housing Authority and they have stated that once he is home, we will need to submit an application to have him added to the household. If he is denied, we can then appeal but since he is not a sex offender or charged with a drug crime, this shouldn't be an issue. If for whatever reason that fails, then I can choose to stop the assistance if I want him to remain in the home (which I do!!).
What are the home requirements that Washington will look at when deciding to approve or deny his transfer request? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Unless the offender is a sex offender, CCO's shouldn't contact the housing manager/land lord/Section 8 ect. Doesn't mean that it won't happen but it's rare. Also, if he violates, CCO's may contact the housing manager.

For ICOTS/FOS cases, Washington will impose whatever additional conditions the CCO feels are needed plus whatever else the sending state has imposed.

For an investigation, we look for anything that will place an offender in violation. Generally these are: no guns, drugs (medical marijuana included), or alcohol. Beaware, your home becomes open to a warrantless search by DOC, meaning we don't need search warrants.

Overall, be supportive of DOC as we want him to get through this as quicly as possible too.

Great information but wondering what ICOTS/FOS cases stand for?

LOL, I had to actually google it.

ICOTS= Interstate Compact Offender Tracking System. Bascially it's the agreement between the states over transfering of offenders between states.

FOS= From Out of State. DOC uses a 3 letter term for all of its cases (CCP, CCJ, CCD, PAR ect). You'll also hear them called Intersate cases as well.

Thank you for the response! The IPO at the facility he is located at in West Virginia asked me specifically if I received housing assistance. I prefer a completely open book relationship with all DOC officials so I am completely honest and proactive about all matters related to my husband. I had already contacted my landlord and the Housing Authority prior to the contact made by the IPO and received approval. I am glad to hear that Washington does not ban inmates from paroling to a home that received assistance through the Housing Authority, as does West Virginia. I have no worries in regards to my home being seen as unfit or violating any parole conditions or laws. I remain supportive of both my husband's goals in his reentry and the DOC. I will have completed my degree in CJ/Psych next March and hope to enter the field of rehabilitation for high risk offenders. The education and volunteer work I have completed combined with the experience of having my husband incarcerated has given me an indepth and unique understanding of both sides of the fence. I appreciate your answering my questions and putting my mind at ease.
