Default Suitability hearing lawyer needed in california

Hello, I was wondering if anyone in California who has had any experience with hiring a private attorney for a lifers suitability hearing could point me in the direction of a possible referral. I need to hire my husband an attorney for an upcoming hearing and I am at a loss of finding one. I have only found a few on the internet.

CAN ANYONE OUT THERE PLEASE HELP ME?

I'd reccommend Keith Wattley...he has a reputation that is superb...he ONLY deals with lifers in regards to parole AND suitability hearings...i have retained him for my fiance's upcoming parole hearing...

Good Luck !!!

I don't do this kind of work and I'm not licensed in CA. What I have to say goes to hiring a lawyer for anything. Interview more than one lawyer. I'd say at least 3. Write out the questions you have before you go to interview him/her. It can't just be about the money - ask about how s/he intends to communicate with the person in prison, and how often. Since this comes up quite a lot on PTO, ask about whether the attorney will talk with you, the person paying the bill, and to what extent s/he will talk with you.

Ask about experience. Ask about general methodology. Ask whatever you feel you need to ask. A decent attorney will make no guarantees about a specific outcome. A decent attorney will not make you feel bad, or stupid, or like you're wasting the attorney's time.

Don't go just by what the attorney says - make sure you check the disciplinary record of the attorney with the relevant bar. Check to see if the attorney has malpractice insurance. Do not go by the Martindale-Hubble directory - everybody has a great rating there. Ask for representative cases and for references.

Your family and friends can be wonderful sources for good referrals - ask them who they've used and for what. A divorce lawyer may just do divorce work, but chances are s/he makes referrals for criminal defense attorneys all the time.

Remember, you're hiring the attorney. Pick your employee carefully.

Good luck to both of you and your LOs in your upcoming hearings.

Tracy Lum and Keith Watley are both excellent attorneys for lifer hearings as well.
