Default Do I have to be on the approved visitor list in order to send money?

I have a friend that is an inmate at the Rockville Correctional Facility. Do I have to be on her approved visitors list in order to put money on her books? If I want to have a Bible sent to her from Amazon.com or Barnes & Noble, do I first have to be on her approved visitor list? Generally, how long does it take for someone to be approved for visiting? Is there a form or something that I have to fill out?

Thanks for any help that you can offer to me!

In order to put money on your friends books, you have to be on the approved visitors list. There is a form which has to be sent to you by your loved one. It really varies how long it takes to get approved. I was approved in like a week, others have said weeks. I believe that you can send him or her a book straight from amazon, etc..without being on the list. It just has to come straight from Amazon or the publisher, etc...hope that helps!

I was told by others that I needed to be on his visitors list to put money on his books. And yes this is true, if he has visitors on his approved list. In my husbands case we haven't filled out the visitor applications so myself and others have been able to put money on his books.

Once someone is approved on the visitors list then only that person (or other approved persons) can put money on his books. Course this is applicable to the facility he is in so my suggestion would be to at least try. Won't hurt, if you can't it won't let you.

You do have to be on the list to send money. Anyone can write her; they do not have to be on the approved list. As far as sending her a bible, I am on my niece's approved list and I sent her a NLT Life Application Bible personalized with her name from Christian Book Distributors. She was able to receive it with the personalized name. I'm not sure if they can accept books from someone not on their approved list; you may want to call and ask the chaplain before sending it.
