Talking 28 days and counting!! :-D :-D July 5, 2019

Well, after a HUGE 9 months for me on the romantic front, my MWI guy is getting out in 28 days. Yes, we are moving in together and I'm crazy excited! He already has an apartment rented, which the social workers at the prison helped him get, and he takes over the lease and starts paying rent two weeks before he gets out. I will pick up the key from the RE agent and make sure the place is full of furniture and everything we need during those two weeks. Then, on the 4th July, I will drive 7 hours south to Sydney to go pick him up on the morning of the 5th. We'll spend that morning organising some $$ stuff for him (open bank account, collect release payment from welfare dept, pick up other $$ owed to him etc, get him a phone, toiletries etc) then we drive to a hotel to relax for the afternoon/evening. Dinner somewhere nice! The next day, we drive north to our new home to see what magic we can create together! We will both be working for ourselves, we are both artists and we both make music, so WHAT IS POSSIBLE?? :-D

From the letters I have received from him lately, and the way he sounds on the phone, I'm not at all worried about how things are going to be. He sounds very focussed and determined and says that his recovery/sobriety is his highest priority and that he is doing that 100% for himself and no-one else. That tells me that he is more than likely going to be just fine!

He has been in for 15 months and we have known each other since August last year - 10 months. He made friends inside with an acquaintence I knew who found out that S only really had 1 family member to talk to, and asked me if I would write to him. I said "Sure!" expecting only to get a new penpal/friend, but now there is so much more! LOL!

I'll keep y'all posted for anyone who is interested in how we are going?
Sending lot of positive energy to everyone here and your LO's too!

Thank you Gorgeous! Nine days! It feels so real now but yet so unreal at the same time! Lol!! NEXT WEEK!! HOLY CRAP! :-D

UPDATE: He now has to attend rehab for 90 days as a parole condition despite being clean for 15 months. So we get three days together, then on Monday, I have to drop him off and no visits for the first 4 weeks. Sad face...but from week 3, he can have a phone, so I'm hanging out til we can talk every day! but first.....SUPER naughty weekend to look forward to!!

So he has to go to rehab somewhere and still pay rent on the apt? I suppose you will be there, but that's crazy. My guy is doing a drug rehab class in prison so hope that makes him good to go. Can't wait to hear how things go next week...

No. He got out of taking the apartment just in time! I have taken a room in a sharehouse for the next 90 days and he will pay rent at rehab out of his unemployment benefit, which he got sorted yesterday with the prison social workers. He plans to start his own lawncare biz in October, while he finishes his degree and I have my coaching business, so I'm not worried about $$ right now. Right b4 he gets out of rehab, we will look for a place to live together. They will give him day leave so we can get that organised. He has also done 2 drug and alcohol courses inside, and has been clean for 15 months, but they are still insisting on it as a parole condition for some reason?
No visits for first 4 weeks, which totally blows, but that might be negotiable with his case worker..? I told him he needs to kiss that person's ass!! Haha!
Three days and a wake up! Holy fuck!!! :-D

Well, parole finally came and saw him yesterday and he signed his parole conditions! Then he called me and told me what time to be there. So, that's it! 2 days, 2 hours and 41 mins til I see him! Ha! The crazy thing about us is that even though he was always in min sec, we have only ever had box visits. That was because I upset the warden at Kirkconnell by defending the guys when she was going on about how "manipulative" and awful they all are in a phone call. I told her she had a very interesting point of view and said a few other things. She didn't like that very much and stuck me on box visits. Lol!! Then, when he got tranferred to Long Bay, we should have had our first normal visit, but they forgot to put an expiry date on the box visit up at Kirk, but I didn't find that out until visit day. A screw (CO) at Long Bay gave me a number to call to get the box visit thing taken off my name, which I did and was then eagerly anticipating cuddles the following weekend. When I arrived for the visit, they didn't know where he was. Lol! Finally, they came and told me he'd been transferred to seg the day before. WTF??!!! Freaking out, I grabbed my stuff out of the locker and ran like hell in the rain over to MSPC2, where they had to track him down. More waiting, while our visit time ticks away. Finally, a big burly Maori security guard escorted me to the SHU, where he was on account of something another inmate at a different facility did to try and take his parole. Long story there!! So, yet another forking box visit! Though he has never been violent and only had 2 weeks to go, they had him in handcuffs even though he was also behind glass. Crazy! So, anyway, when I pick him up in 2 days and a wake up it will be the first time we actually get to touch each other, hug, kiss. We get to actually breathe the same air! He commented to me on the phone last week about how cliché that is. Ha! Lol! Can't wait to have our arms around each other!! Fall asleep together. Wake up together...well, for 3 days at least!
Life can certainly be unexpected... that's for sure!! but I am eagerly anticipating the continuation of this very Unexpected Journey! :-)

I was trying to post a jpg pic which I got a url for from postimg.cc, but it didn't work. It gave me 8 different links I could potentially post for different forums, not sure which one I was supposed to use? but it doesn't matter...43 hours. OMG! LOL!!

When you get him situated at the rehab, we're gonna be looking for your update and a release date from the rehab ....I'll change the title to reflect the date and count 'em down with you!

Thank you Bella!
By my calculations, he should be out of rehab on the 29th Sep. Thanks for the offer, but I'll pass on the new countdown. I'm sick of counting down and I will be able to have a LOT more contact with him than when he was locked up, mostly on account of the fact that he's only 15 mins up the road now. Apparently, I can go and see him at NA meetings twice a week even though I'm not an addict. Anyway, I'll try and find where I'm supposed to be posting the homecoming story. We had a really great weekend together! :-)

Since he's out of prison & so close to home, you can post in the Now That Your Loved is Home... forum I'd link it for you, but I'm attempting to use a laptop w/o a mouse & have yet to master highlighting (& a few other things) LOL Been this way since Friday...If I wasn't going home today, I would change my user name to Lame Duck

I hated AA....never understood why Judges & PO's forced people to go to AA Seems like the majority of people at those meetings were only there because they had to be / get that piece of paper signed & made deals / smoked dope in the parking lot. For anyone serious about recovery, that was not a healthy environment IMHO

Yeah, I totally agree about 12 step meetings, and so does he for the same reason as you P, but in this case, he will be driven there and back by the rehab staff, who all seem super nice and caring, and I'm assuming they will be hanging around for all the meetings, so that's a bit better than the worst case scenario of him going to a meeting and meeting a new dealer. TOTAL opposite of most of the Corrective Services staff that I've interacted with over the past 10 months! Most of the rehab staff are former addicts themselves, so they know what it's like. We'll see..? Two more sleeps til I see him again!! SQUEEEE!!!! :-D
