Default Chillicothe Correctional Center in Missouri

Dear Brothers and sisters; I was made aware before the holidays that the inmates will no longer be allowed to take the usuall cigarettes, sodas, and food items back to their quarters with them after a visit. I was informed that any item purchased in the visiting quarters must also be consumed there. The positive that I see in this is that it would cut down on the practice of "loansharking" which has been troublesome for sometime there in that facility. But the big disadvantage I see in this is that the profits made off the vending machines went to the recreation fund. So we will see what happens now. Please move this thread to what ever silly place you feel it needs to be and bother me with it in a few weeks please!!! LMAO!!!!!! Don

I think they may have been one of the last places that even allowed that to occur.

Mr. Kraut, I would like to sympathize with you about the restrictions on taking items back to their quarters but I can't. It seems to be a trend now that the womens facilities are starting to become more strict. With the woman inmate population increasing and the more violent crimes they commit I can see the reasons for the changes. I have not been to any visiting room where the inmate was allowed to take anything back with them except for Ozark. There they could take cigarettes back with them but good grief they are very costly. Most of the guys I know roll their own because it is cheaper. I am not sure about the profits on machines going to the recreation fund. Can you explain that a little more for me?
