Default Stressing Out....Expired License

Hi Everybody!
I was planning on visiting my husband for Christmas. Well, yesterday I needed my driver's license for something and I can't find it! I think I threw it out by mistake! OH GEEZ. I have to go to the department of motor vehicles tomorrow but a replacement picture license takes up to 60 days!!!!!
I still have my old drivers license which has expired! Has ANYONE ever used an expired drivers license to get visits? I'll have a new paper license to show that I'm still valid....but it won't have my picture on it!
Please let me know if any of you have experienced this.
Thanks
Oceana

I would go there and try just honestly explaining it to them. I mean, have you been there before? I did actually use my expired one a couple of times at the county jail and even though the addy has changed they never even noticed, but I wouldn't dare at a prison somehow. But if the point is supposed to be proving that you're you, I'd try showing the paper replacement and the old one and maybe they'd be reasonable?

OH great news! I get to answer my own question and it's a great answer
I just called the prison and explained the situation and she said it was OKAY as long as I had the renewal papers and the old license with a picture that looks like me! She works in the visiting room so I took her name down just in case anyone gives me problems anyway!
I'm sooooo happy that I get to see my husband on Christmas day!

YEAH! Up to 60 days! Geez!
And the waiting line can last for hours!!!
I'm going there tomorrow morning at 6:30 so that I can be there early enough when the doors open at 8 am!
I'm new to California and it definitely is a shocker!

I dont think you can visit with a expired liscense. But what I would do is bring your paper liscense and your old liscense with your pic on it. You should also call up there ahead of time to see what you can do to prevent you from driving all that way for nothing!

Hi kreepsgirl,
Yeah, that's what I did. I called and asked if it was okay to show my expired picture license along with a new paper license and the visiting lady said that should be fine. As long as the names match and the picture looks like me
The lady I spoke with is almost always in the visiting room handling the processing of people so if anyone gives me trouble I'll have them try to contact her (if she's not there at the time). I think it should be fine. I'm excited!!!! Only 10 more days until that Christmas visit!

OMG yesterday I was rummaging through my purse and my state ID fell out for some reason I had never noticed they had misprinted my birth month. I've had it since August and NEVER noticed I use it so infrequently and noone has ever questioned it. Well my paranoid mind was working overtime so I hightailed it over to DMV and made them replace it, I was mad because I had to take another picture and you KNOW how those pictures look but when they handed it to me wow I don't think I've had a better pic taken in a while, should have asked for extras to send out in my Christmas cards haha
