Default New RCF at Fort Leavenworth??

My husband is serving time in Ft. Sill and when I went down there to visit a few weeks ago he said that they are probably transferring them to a new RCF at Fort Leavenworth and closing the RCF at Ft. Sill in possibly April 2010. Has anyone else heard much about this?

Based on conversations with personnel at the USDB, the new RCF on Ft. Leavenworth is pretty close to completion and may be open next year. I remember reading, when it was first announced, that it would replace two of the existing RCFs but I don't remember which. Logically, one would think it would be based a geographic proximity but this is the military we're talking about so it's anyone's best guess at their rationale. I'm pretty sure I read the article in Army Times so maybe an archive search of that would give you an answer. I'll see what I can find.

just wanted to let you know that I did several years at the USDB and I really think that doing time there would be 'better' time for your husband than at the RCF.

I've done a lot of research on this and from what I understand Ft. Sill and Ft. Knox will be transferring there I believe sometime this year. There's some information on it on the Leavenworth Lamp website. Google Ft. Leavenworth RCF and it tells a lot about it!
just in case anyone wants to read up on it!
God Bless!

My husband was just transferred to Ft. Leavenworth prison and someone was nice enough to text me and let me know that he made it safely there. I thought that was nice of the person that did that for him. I was also happy to hear that he made it safely because the last time I spoke to him he told me that he may be moved really soon and the phone cut off so that was the last word I got from him. And today I got the good news, it took him one day to be moved. WOW,they are not playing. I was on my way to see him at the old location and I am going to go anyway because the plane ticket was purchased and I have family there. I can't wait to visit him at the new location it's closer to me and I can see him more in Kansas. I was also told that he would get in touch with me so that I can contact him and we can talk on the phone but it will take a few weeks; after reading the post on this page I was prepared for the wait and the fact that he may not be able to call my cell phone. I was looking at a calling plan that is $199. a year and that will give me unlimited calls and it would be to a local number. I am wondering if that would be a good plan to get? Anyone have any information on this or any other plan that will save me money? Thank you

My husband has been at the Leavenworth facility for a month now and it is not as bad as I thought it would be. The calls came in fast and when they transferred him to GP it was good for him. I guess as good as can be expected in a prison. I just want him out of there soon.
