Default SSI after 10 years inside ?

Has anyone heard of any new changes in the SSI program that would allow inmates that served 10 years or more straight SSI benefits even if they dont have all their 40 credits work history in?

SSI is specifically for those who don't have work credits, its always been that way. Its getting it that's hard. Even when eligible its hard to get.

From what I understand from having to spoken to the guys who had done 10+ years time while I was still in, there was not a work credit requirement.

Some of them said it was "automatic", because a person after doing 10 years is considered so "damaged" and institutionalized by society that they cannot reasonably be expected them to reintegrate into a normal work environment. But I don't know if it being automatic is true or not (though that seemed to be the belief).

In other news, I am pretty sure it is possible to get PTSD so terrible from prison that you can't walk around people you don't know, in a LOT shorter than 10 years. So not sure where this # specifically comes from.

This is merely a rumor and one that's been around for decades. You do NOT automatically get SSI because you've been in prison.
