Default Lois M. Deberry Special Needs

Because each prison is a little different, I thought those of us with knowledge about phones, mail, visitation, quirky rules, etc. at a certain prison could post in each prison's thread to give new people some much needed information. Please post any information you have about DEBERRY in this thread.

Thanks!

There is a hospital on site. I have been to this facility many times. I have never been talked to rudely by any of the guards. The dress codes for visitors are no sleeveless shirts for men. women and kids 10 and older are not permitted to wear dresses that button or zip from the waist down or neckline down. No low cut or tight fitting shirst. No sleeveless tops, wrap around skirts or pants. Must wear underpants. No flip flops, camouflage clothing is not allowed. 2 rings, 1 necklace, 1 watch, 1 pair earrings. No hats, full body suits, sunglasses. Can get visitation handbook by calling 615-350-2700

Is this facility better or easier than the other tn prisons.Would someone with physical problems prefer to go to this place/ How do you get someone facing going to prison sent there? Or do they just treat prisoners like there all insane? Any advice or help you can give me would be wonderful..THANKS psalms27

This facility is DEFINITELY better than all the rest. It is very difficult for a prisoner to be sent there, unless they have a serious medical condition. They also offer Sex Offender Treatment there, so SO's are sometimes sent there towards the end of their sentence.

Lois M. DeBerry Special Needs Facility is located on Cockrill Bend Blvd (Right Behind Riverbend MAx) They Have Several Different Acreas that they cater to... Medical Conditions, Mental Conditions We also have two different Sex Offender Programs one for inmates of normal mentality levels .. and then one program for those that are considered "Low Functioning" We Do have "Worker" Units which house inmates that are brought to the compound just for the purpose of working on the compound in some of the higher skilled postions that we offer, We have by far some of the best staff you would want to be incarerated around because most of us do care ... and we still have a heart ... I know my self i have went above and beyond many times, there has been times ive even took an inmate that was suffering from a mental defect where he couldnt take care of his self I took him to the shower and washed him and got him a clean set of clothes ... but i must also say .. that due to the actions of some inmates we are not always this nice to them ... there are some that will throw urine in our faces because of something that another officer done to them ... but throw all i try to treat all of them the way i would want to be treated if i were locked up!!

Default Could you answer a question please?

I was wondering why inmates with medical problems who are sent to this facility are put in such an isolating position? A doctor had my son sent there from another facility because of a heart problem.

Default son at DeBerry--OMG-help!

Can someone please help my son,I seen where a nurse or a CO from DeBerry was on this forum,he lefted from Tiptonville-NWCX on June 29th,andwastok to deberry,on the 30th,he was took to the eye specialist, shackled all day at the eye doctor, didn't get to see them, was suppose to be rescheduled,it has been 14 days and still no eye specialist,he was shipped out ASAP because of his diabetes, blind in his left eye,he is also in a isolated cell,he said its not any different than being in the hole other than they roll a phone around to you on Sunday to call me once a week,he's about to go insane there, and so am I,can't help him, can't do nothing for him, can't get a hold of anybody to help him,and this is suppose to be a special needs hospital? It's a state law for diabetics to get a peanut butter sandwich and milk at night, aint getting that, hasn't had a shower since Friday, todays Sunday. His kidneys are also failing on him,he told me today if he ever got back to Tiptonville, the only way he would go back to deberry is unconscious and didn't know it,he came from general population to being isolated going on 14 days with no medical care, and most of the time has to beg for his evening shots, can anybody help me in anyway? Is there anyway I can get to him to see him,and not behind glass? I myself need to check my baby to see for myself if he's alright,I might sound over protective but he's had diabetes for 31 years and he's 31 years of age,he was born with this, andI have dealt with this all his life, thank you for all that has listened, and info would be greatly appreciated.

My fiance just got moved to Lois Deberry. I am worried sick, altho he assures me is getting excellant and compassionate care. He is going to have stints and possibly heart bypass surgery. I am so glad he is in a place surrounded by professionals. The prison were he was ignored his symptoms for four days. Now half his heart is not working. Any info on visiting and the chaplains there would be much appreciated. I am calling the chaplain tomorrow. He put me on as his emergency contact six months ago AND MCCX never documented it, hence no phone call about his condition. Scary, but giving it all to God ...

I know it's a little late now, but it sounds like your son is in Transit. Transit is a seg. unit for prisoners that are visiting this prison, but are not an inmate of this facility. I would assume they do this because they don't know the temperament of these people and cannot risk putting them in a normal unit. There should be a nurse on that unit to give out medication to those who need it, but there are people you can talk to if you feel that it's not getting done. Call the prison itself and talk to admin or push the button for inmate issues and I'm sure they can get you in touch with who you need to speak to.
