Hi, my have four generations of cherokee decent, I am very connected to my animal spirit (wolf). So many people decriminate against us as native americans, but that is only part of who I am. I also have alot of European decent on the other side of the line.
Hey girl!! Your right a lot of people do discriminate against Native Americans and in all reality we are the real minority. They came, took our land and ran us out. But its okay girl, because little by little we are getting it back and so are all of our ancestors..
God Bless Stephanie

My husband's grandmother is full blooded Cherokee and his grandfather is Blackfoot. My grandfather is Mayan and there is Pomo in our bloodline as well. Although nobody in my family really considers Mayan to be a "tribe" they just consider themselves Mexican.

wow!! mayan not a tribe??? when you think of the wisdom and knowledge the Mayan people gave to the rest of the world...WOW!!! But, it is this way in so much of Mexico and South America...same as North Americathough, identities, history and traditions gone, lost and merged with others. Too many people don't realize that Mexicans are Indian, same as the Taino people, our Puerto Rican brothers and sisters.
I don't know but I would love to find out because maybe then, it might point me in the direction of where my brother went after he was released. He talked about moving to reservation but I don't have a clue which one. I thought it was somewhere in North or South Dakota but he was incarcerated in Kansas.
That is what I try to tell them too. I'm proud that my family is Mayan, they have a very rich and unique culture seperate from being Mexican. I also tried to tell my other family that the first Creoles were mixed with Native blood too, but that was just too much for them to swallow. Oh well, i just look at it differently. I know that when we went to Knott's Berry Farm, they had this huge map of athe US and Mexico and it had various tribes drawn out on it and my little 4 year old wanted to know which one she was, which one her Daddy was and which ones her Papas were. So I'm glad that she is interested in learning.
