Default Time served: How is their time to serve calculated in Colorado?

I'm curious how their time is calculated. Say. They were sentenced a year. How is it possible that they could get out in like 4 or 5 months?

If someone is convicted of a non-violent crime, they would have to do 50% (6 months) before they are eligible for parole. They could earn 10 days a month earned time which would make them eligible in a little over 4 months.
