We are both from America...both of us being reverts...he's been Muslim a lot longer than I have been (over 15 years for him; only 4 years for me, masha'Allah). We've talked about moving to Morocco...but, depends on if they will let him with his felonies, and if we can save the money for the move. The only drawback is we both will miss our families, and I know it would cost a lot to fly back and forth to visit...so, when it comes down to it, Idk if we will actually move or not.

Morocco...for a while we thought about morocco too:-),I have a very good moroccan friend and I´ve only made good experience with moroccans and their country is stable compared to other arab countries:-).
I´m certain my husbands gonna miss his family too but we wanna start our own family upon his release and we want our children inshaAllah to grow up in an islamic country, not only for them also for us, hearing the adhan five times a day all over the city, breaking fast with thousands of people is just priceless:-). I´ve been to my home country (Turkey) many times and I miss being in that enviroment, so Turkey is definitely our preference for the future.

Walaikum asalaam sis. Welcome to this section of PTO!

Lilay...I read a book not too long ago called "The Expat Harem," it was a collection of short personal stories, written by women that had moved to Turkey (either permanently, or at least for a number of years). It was a very good book, and interesting. I would love to at the least visit Turkey. I had mentioned it to my hubby as a suggestion as well. We'll see.

Hey thank you for the book suggestion. I just looked it up and it´s sounds like an interesting read and I´ll definitely download it on my reader. You should definitely travel to Turkey.I´m certain you´ll not regret it and if I happen to be there as well I´ll show you around and introduce you to the best cuisine in the world- the turkish-kurdish cuisine and no... I´m not biased :-)

Ladies, I need your help- I'm likely to have a Muslim houseguest over the summer- a long-lost family friend who embraced Islam while we were out of touch- and while I know some of the basics, I'm not so familiar with the dietary laws that I feel at ease preparing several meals that my dear friend can enjoy.
No pork, no shelfish, I know- do dairy and meat need to be prepared/served seperately? Any special requirements for storage? Anything else I need to know in order to make sure my guest can eat freely?
