Default To all the women who married their men in prison - what was the process?

Im just curious to know how does the wedding actually take place? How long is it. What do they actually do? This is all new to me and Im excited to know how it goes.

Default Hey

The procedure varies from state to state and prison to prison. I can share with you my own experience. I had to go to the local court house and fill out my portion of the marriage license. The prison transported him down to the court house to fill out his portion of the marriage license (note we paid for transportation and guard escort). We paid a (non-religious) marriage officiant to conduct our ceremony on prison grounds. Our ceremony took about 20 minutes and we were allowed to hug, hold hands, and kiss of course . Shortly after, we had to part ways.

There were a few bumps in the road and some folks gave me the run-around. In the end it was all worth it..patience is key!

Good Luck

I have been married 8 months (today)..I'm n Florida n my husband had to get a marriage packet fill it out send it to me I sent it back to the chaplain n then it had to be approved..it took about 4 months after that I had to set a date and get a marriage license which was very easy 4me to do..the day of the wedding I had to be at the prison (couldnt wear a wedding dress so I dressed up as if I was going 2 viso)..they transported him from the work camp to the regular prison where I was waiting on him n when he came in me & the chaplain(who performed the ceremony) was waiting along with two officers (male & female) who was our witnesses..the ceremony took about 10mins n after that I got to spend a 2hr visit with him which I didnt stay the whole 2 hrs because I had to go to work lol..but it did not take long at all and after the ceremony it was just us in the room during the visit..

I am in Indiana but that doesn't mean anything in that each prison has it's own rules and regs. We had to get clearance from the prison chaplain first, then by the prison superintendent, then we had to get the marriage license...this was the most challenging part, I went to courthouse filled out my part, sent his part to his counselor who had him sign it and then notarized it...then had to find our own officient...and then set the date...it took about 6 months total to set up...not unlike your real wedding. We go to visit for 2 hrs before the wedding and then about 30 minutes after...
We've been married for 2 yrs, he's been home almost 5 months and it was totally worth it.
Note: On our second anniversary we visited the church of the pastor who married us..that was amazing and made the whole day perfect.
Good luck and Congrats

Awww thats nice. We only need one person to sign the marriage license in order to get it. He can sign it once we ready to get married. I just only need his info. we are just waiting on the clearance of everyone to attend the wedding which is just my best friend and one of his friends on his list. so right now we are waiting on a date. SO hopefully it will be soon. They have moved pretty fast with everything else. Thank you
