Kentucky Prison & Jail Visitation, Phones, Packages & MailTopics / Information relating to the Kentucky Department of Corrections and local / county Jail visitation, phone calls, mail, inmate care packages, etc
My husband just returned from an appointment with his psychiatrist at Luckett and was told the commissioner is wanting to completely eliminate contact visitation. He wants to switch to JPay video visitation only. This rumor has been going through the yard for almost a year, but this is the first confirmation he has had from someone that actually knows what she's talking about. He and others are extremely upset at this possibility. He wants to know if anyone outside is aware of this. He is wanting to prepare to protest this change. He says that his visits are the only thing that keeps him going from one week to the next. He hated the video visitation at Metro. If anyone knows anything about this, please let me know.
I hate video visits Lou. Metro has those tiny, outdated screens.....jpay at least could be done from home. But there is no substitute for person-to-person contact!! Not just for the inmate, but for family & friends. I hope this is just a rumor, but I wouldn't put it past DOC.

Probably because LLCC is now considered a medium/maximum security facility. They have a higher security rating so those visits may exceed the levels/staff ratio. I believe they were the only ones that had those kinds of visits anyway.

That really stinks. We had video visits when we were in KS. I hated those. That is sad that they are doing away with the honor visits. They certainly don't do many programs any more. Or it may be they approve for some and not for others.
