Default Optional ways to add money to books

Hello,

My LO is at Ga State Prison & I wanted to know what other ways besides jpay can I add money to his books? I'm not on his visitation list so I can't send money through JPay. I've noticed I could send it through MoneyGram but jpay is involved in that too. Does anyone know how I could send money w/o being on the visiting list?? Thanks for your help!

You have to get on his financials list, which I believe is the same form and process as getting on his visitor list. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that this is the case.

GADOC is not the only DOC that requires people to go through the same checks required to visit inmates as to send money to them. There is a big push to obtain as much information as possible to verify the identity of those communicating with and sending funds to inmates. This is why they are now tracking cell phone locations of those receiving calls from inmates, finger printing all adult visitors, and requiring background checks to be approved to send money.

Yep, my son is in prison in Georgia. I filled out the forms and they denied because they said it wasn't notarized so try again in November. I mean, huh? We are his parents and we want to send him some money but now he has to find other ways, which is typically other inmates that are set up and do it for a fee. I mean really, turn down the parents? We can email him and he calls but we can't put money on his books. I have never had that problem before for anyone that was in and I wanted to send a few bucks to. Nowhere except Georgia.

Were you trying to do it through JPay? Have you talked to them? You could try calling the DOC & asking them if you're allowed to send a money order to his account. I had to do that for my son before things got approved. You can call 404-656-4661 & the people there have been very helpful to me. They'll let you know what to do.
