My man was at Eastern and hated it. Visits weren't too bad. Sorry can't remember the days and times. I do remember having to buy a locker everytime for my keys and the room is small. And that I could visit on Saturday and Sunday, which I did once. We stayed in Morehead since it has a better choice of hotels and more stuff. I know he said it's rough for men in interracial relationships.

Mine was there years ago, visits are different now, I believe. I can remember going and staying almost til 3 or 4 pm. I heard they are 2 hours long now, which even from where I am and I am closer than you, thats too short of visit, for the long drive.
The visit was in a room, (no outside or nothing) and I can remember it was the only place that had ice cream in the vending machine. That was nice
I really don't understand your poll .....most inmates start out in their county jail and are subsequently sent to Roederer for assessment & classification. Two out of your three answers apply to most our loved ones. For some it could be 3 out of 3 LOL
For him to transfer, he'll need to put in for it. I hope he can be moved closer to you....I understand how hard it is to visit when they are so far from home

My fiance was locked up in lousiville, Trancfured to owensboro (DCDC) Then sent to roederer, Then sent to ekcc, Hes been moved all of these times within the last 6 months. I recently took the trip for a visit, The staff seemed nice, That of what i met. You are only aloud a breif kiss at the begingin and end of the visit, They do have a place to take pics with your inmate, there $2 a peice but your limited to 4 of them. You still cant hold hands and the visits are around 2 hours. They will give you a little extra depending on the guards.

My boy is at E.K.C.C. I live in Wisconsin but have family in Kentucky so I visit him every time I'm in Kentucky. Visiting days are Sat, Sun, and Monday. Mondays are the long visits, you can stay until 3. I always seem to have issues with the guards, but I've always gotten in. One time I got dropped off by a family member and brought my cell phone in with the intent of locking it in the locker during the visit so I could call my ride afterward. They were not keen on that so I had to call my ride back and have him pick up the phone. Then they wouldn't let me bring in a piece of paper with his number on it! Later I went and checked the visiting rules and it said that cell phones were not allowed in the VISITING ROOM, but all the guards were saying I could not have it in the building.
The visits are all inside and you are not allowed to touch You can buy picture tickets at the check in desk for two dollars or something like that. I think you can take in up to $30 in silver change and maybe even $1 bills. And you have to take the money with you when you go to the vending machine, you can't leave it alone with your MWI at the table.
Hope this helps

My Husband has been all over KY. I want to get him moved closer to home. West Liberty, KY is too far from Owensboro for me && our kids to travel.
Does anyone have any loved ones at EKCC?? How do they work up there? Visiting?
I'm sorry, I don't have any visiting information. My son was convicted in April, has been moved 4 times and ended up at EKCC. He has been in the hole ever since, so I'm not even sure he's allowed visits. I believe the only visiting times my son is allowed are on Mondays, 10:30 to 12:30 via glass partition, due to him being in isolation. They have allowed him calls up until 2 weeks ago, and I was getting regular letters until 2 weeks ago, since then, nothing, so I am trying to find more information out. I tried to call the chaplain, but have not gotten through, too late by the time I get home from work, I guess. He told me they were trying to transfer him, but no jail would take him, don't understand what that means, but it looks like he's staying at EKCC for awhile. I will write if I find anything more out.
My pen pal is at E.K.C.C. and I would love to go see him someday. I live in N.Y. so it's a long way for me. I would love to be able to visit all 3 days if I could since I'm coming from such a long way, but I don't know if that's allowed.
