Can you visit without being approved for 30 days? Update: YES!
Hi, New to all this and up til now pretty much have stayed quiet but I am so PISSED and upset. My hubs sent me visitation form about 2 weeks ago while he was at brickeys, I filled it out and mailed it the next day. Then while it was still in route he gets transferred to randall l Williams. I called brickeys they tell me that they will forward form to RLW. It's 2 weeks later and I finally got to talk to Ms. Reynolds and she informs me that she hasn't received it and that I won't be able to see my husband this Saturday. So crushed right now. I haven't seen or talked to him in over a month. This waiting to see your loved one is BS.
IF you are married or immediate family, you can visit for the first 30 days without an approved visitation form. Is this still true?
The Arkansas DOC webpage does not mention visiting w/o prior approval if you are married / family. In fact, it states:
Each visitor must complete a visitation application and return to the address listed on the form. The inmate is responsible for providing visitors with applications. Applications are then processed, reviewed and either approved or denied by the Warden. This process can take from seven days to six weeks. A criminal history check is done on all prospective visitors.
Even for video visits it says:
Video Visits must be scheduled by inmate friends and family members that have been approved for phone calls and visitation.
Update: The answer is yes!! If you are married or immediate family can visit the first 30 days your loved one is in prison without visitation form being approved. Your inmate should be able to notify you but if not, call and find out when their visitation day is. Just got back from seeing my hubby and it was AWESOME!!! :0) hope this helps

It almost seems like they want to keep it a secret. Oh well lol. Not fair to make family wait to see a loved one because the visitation clerks want to drag their asses. I still haven't gotten my approval and I know that I have a clean background. I work in child care and to be hired I had to have a fbi background done.
