So I see nobody has posted in here all year, which isn't a good sign for me and all my questions lol, but I'll try anyway .

Okay so I just got my marriage certificate today and now me and my husband are ready to apply for family visits but I'm completely lost on how to go about it. Does he ask for a packet or do I? Is it a good idea to mail him a certified copy or should I be sending it to the family visit coordinator? I have a lot more questions but I'll start there for now. Lol. Thanks for any help in advance!

first off does his crime allow for family visits? lifers/murder/violent crimes, domestic violence and sex offenders, maybe other crimes to but i know the ones i mentioned are excluded from family visits. then if that isn't a factor i'd say he needs to speak to his case manager/counselor.. congrats and best of luck!

Your husband needs to find out if he is eligible and request the family visiting packet from his counselor. You can send the certified copy of your marriage certificate to his counselor so its there if and when the packet is approved. Good luck girly

Thanks for the response ladies! Yes he is eligible. The only issue was his custody level but that dropped a few months ago so his counselor said he's good to go

So I'm gonna have him get at his counselor ASAP. I'm also going to call his counselor, ugh I hate calling him. He's so mean lol

Default Finally

We finally was approved. We was mainly waiting on his CC1 to have time to look over his application. Once that happened we had to wait on the family visiting coordinator. Then wait for the money to be taken off my husbands books......that's what we are waiting on now.

Oh wow! We thought we got lucky because he got the application pretty quickly. But just getting his counselor to sign has taken a month! I'm hoping we get some news on our status soon! Good luck!

Default Money for FV

You have to send the money before the family visiting coordinator will set the appointment. So when he fills out the application before approval.....I would tell your husband to tell you how much the grocery bill comes up to and then you send that amount in to him on his account. If you send it by money order to the prison just for the family visit then they hold onto it for up to a month before they know if the money order will clear.....at least that is what I understood. But I just made sure my husband had it on his books. I am not trying to wait longer than what I have to.

No straightener or blow dryer. Pretty much no electronics or anything you plug in and no glass containers. All makeup has to be factory sealed but no glass
