Default Divorce from prison questions

So, my man wants to divorce his ex and has been trying to except now he has to start over in Kern County. I was wondering if anyone has divorced or had any experience in the process... Any help is welcomed!

Someone feel free to correct me, but aren't all divorces filed in the county where you were married...not where you currently reside?

Did he get married in Kern county?

Yeah, I am aware of that. He did do it in the county he got married but messed up on some papers so he rather start all over in Kern County so that he doesn't have to fix his mistake that will take longer.

I want to know what adress does he file to? There's diff. Addresses online. Can the court and/or the family law facilitator send him the papers to file?

You do not have to file for a divorce in the county you were married. I went through this with myself in 2010.

Ok, thank you! I'm in another state and when I went through mine in 2008 we were required to file in the county of our marriage.

Best of luck to the OP!

He can file it in the county where he is prisoned at...maybe you can contact the court in his county and go from there. Clerk's are normally nice and are wiling to answer your questions. He can get the papers he needs to file from the prison.
